So your guy that is offering your deal at not much $$$ go for it. Cheap as chips.

Each to their own, i agree that a full hood coverage is not a bad idea, i disagree that it will look better. I can wrap a full hood for half of the above price (If you come to me).

thanks iso for getting this together; i ordered my sticker will let you know how easy or hard it is for a newbie!

i know what you're saying, the Lexus is different to my Landcruiser, but why wouldnt you extend to the front of the bonnet/hood ?
The Sun still hits it?
I'm not dissing the idea, but if you look at the LC bonnet, then i'm looking at something a la the Oz designed Camaro black outs, or the latest Challenger.
I'm not spending $500 but when i post on here i just try and let you know what i find when i am out and about.
I've learnt and bought things from you guys, and am trying to return the favour.

cheers

I think you came up with a great product, I just wish you could find a material that allowed you to bring it another 6-8 inches closer to the front to make all of the measurements a little more aesthetically pleasing. Aside from the functionality I want it to look great too.

"I can wrap a full hood for half of the above price (If you come to me)."

This is appealing as my hood looks somewhat like the surface of the moon on close inspection.

i'd do a full wrap. A [STRIKE]light[/STRIKE] dark colour (i'm silver here) before and afer mock up would be nice
cheers
peter
edit: dark colour edit.

Hello Mudmates,

I just ordered a sample kit of the new materials available to Trevor(Isotel) I will post a pic when i get the samples.

Trevor,
Did you get the last PM regarding the price for converting the file on the compass to a vector file? What do you think?

Thanks

Dan

Dan, check your PM!

Mooooooo, Did you see this photo? i design all the blackouts so that from the drivers seat you will not see any glossy paint from the front lip of your hood.

its a trade off between reducing glare, increacing looks, Ease of install, and final costs for you guys.

actually no sorry i missed that pic....i thought i'd read all the posts.
The anti-glare there is pretty damn good actually. It definately is a problem here in Oz, the glare that is.
With my LC though i;d want to follow the lines and put in some wording like, i dunno, LC100 4.7 L V8 or something, but thats my personal preference of course.

See the lines on the left of your hood there? They are the lines i'd like to follow for my LC. I know the Lexus is different.
EDIT: actually yours looks like it does go all the way to the front...that's what i'd be after, but with my customisation on the slight slopes of the lines shown on the left of your pic. Mine being silver, i'd want the reverse. So matte black.
cheers
peter

EDIT: i'll try and draw in the GIMP (photoshop equiv) what i want and post it. You pic above pretty much does it tho. Wont be today, i have some job interviews and need to hit the hay.

Can this be removed once applied. Also, what is the expected life?

Yes it will come off with some heat and adhisive remover..

if you keep your truck garaged and out of the sun it should last as long as the truck.

3M gives it a 3 year warrenty for the new 1080 Vinyl

The above truck is Black, with a Matte Black Decal :)

It just looks silver due to the suns reflection..

Not sure about the matte green against the 2000 woodland green.

But then again, the matte black is even more of a "contrast".

Well, I received my hood decal about a week ago and decided to tackle the project myself. I'm a fairly handy guy that doesn’t rush to get things done and reads quite a bit before starting a project to make sure its done correctly the first time. With all that said, it was a quite sunny day and i set up shop in my garage and had everything ready to go. Measured and marked the correct placement for the vinyl, sprayed the hood and back of vinyl with solution and as luck would have it a burst of wind came through my shop and folded one end of the vinyl over on itself and bonded together, forever ruined.

I really don’t think the job of installing it would have been a hard job. I'm just bummed out that nature once again snuck up and bit me. Oh well, it was worth the try. I will say that delivery of the decal was fast and product was of very good quality. I would order from ISOLIT again anytime. My failure should be a lesson to CLOSE YOUR GARAGE DOOR when installing. :)

One question for Isolet. For future reference, what is the best way to peal the back of the vinyl wrap off without stretching the nicely cut piece.

isotel,

any plans in the near future to do a hood decal for the 200?

Zane, I have new material in stock that is thicker and easier to handle. Pm me and I will give you a discount on the new stuff, the key is to work slow and start pealing at the rear where it folds over the back of the hood.
