Ok, yesterday i managed to remove the rear springs and diff.
The rear springs took a while to remove from the shackles, as i didn't have an oxy set to heat and melt the rubbers, so a lot of belting with the sledge hammer, and a grinder got it removed.
here some pics.

Q:
1985 + round headlights + early style-dash + manual windows...

As an Aussie-spec HJ60 former owner, I know the Aussie market was and is quite different than over here, but you sure that's an FJ62 and not an FJ60?

FJ62's started in '88 and had power windows and 4 square headlights.

It's a 60, look at the dash as well, side mirrors...

Looking forward to the bumper build. Cool factory vinyl flooring. I'm envious.

Its definitley a FJ62. it has 'FJ62RV-MCQ' stamped into the plates rivited to the firewall, has it as a 4/85.
also has FJ62-015........stamped into the chassis.

You *may* be right on the lights, I do think so too, but there were MANY FJ62s offered in both in the States and abroad in a stripped down version without a/c, power antenna, power windows, door locks, vac-assist transfer case...there's a small list of other features too, I'm sure. Some had some of those features but not others. Mel Lowe's U.S. issued FJ62 (turned into a BJ-T62) came with factory roll down windows, no retrofit job.

it must be fj60......100%correct
Not so fast...

Dave?

Interesting changes Dave. Would like to see it when put together again. Glad to know someone in Brissy that knows what they are doing re these rigs.

thanks Lekker, i'd like to believe i know what i am doing :p

up-date, placed the front grill and light surrounds back on.
looks pretty good (better than the fadded grey colour they once where).
the inside rear doors, removed the broken trims and proceeded to
make new ones from 2mm ally sheet i had in the shed. (pics to come) yet to screw it off. the 2 doors will house drop down benches. all these are temperary untill i finish the design with all that i want to include. (power outlets, light etc...)
I also spend a few hours cutting out the RH inner 'c' channel at the rear ready for the new laser cut and pressed ones (hope to be done this week)
Then the rear axel, with new suspension can finaly be fitted, along with the fuel tank. Then i can take it for a drive :steer:. haven't driven it, or started it for a few months

 Dave
