Well it took the last 8 straight weekends but the painting project is finally complete. Started with a 92 originally white which I two-toned the lower section and bumpers silver about 7 years ago for my wife. Now, fast forward 7 years and my son just turned 16 and his vehicle of choice, well it is the wife's 92 of course and just needs to be a different color. After many searches, we finally decided on painting it Dune Beige. I would like to thank the posts by TEXASLAWMAN, Shermantank55 and others that showed how their trucks look in the similar color. Here's what we started with:

WOW....looks fantastic!

Detailed paint pictures?

All paint is base/clear coat. Hood blackout, mirrors, door handles and door reveal is flat/satin clear. Bumpers, hood vents, rocker panels, rear deflector and flares are truck bed coated. All other is gloss clear including the black around the windows. Wheels, grill and factory bumper trim was painted with Rustoleum "High performance" Dark Grey wheel paint then shot with clear. Here's a rear shot with the emblems gone and retro decals installed under the clear:

Could you post up details on brand/name of paint, hardener used, clear coat, UV additive, how prepped, how painted, cost of paint,---? Did you paint the door jams, underside of hood, ---?

Looks sharp!

Great job, and a perfect color to compliment the 80.

PPG on the paint and clears. DBC for the paint, DCX61 for the hardener, DCU2060 for the matt clear, DCU 2021 for the gloss clear. Everything was removed except the rear lift hatch and fenders. All doors, hood, jams inside and out were painted. Every Saturday my son and I sanded and prepped the parts to be painted. Here's a couple pics of how I set up saw horses and wet the floor to paint the doors:

Very nice work. Got a rough final cost for paint etc?

Looks awesome! Love that color combo.

Looks awesome. I'd like to paint the 97 that color.

That color is perfect on a 80

Around 1K probably more for all including the sand paper (lots of it, ranging from 220 to 2000 grit), primers, adhesion promoter, tape (1/8" to 3"), 12" paper for tape gun and 3 different buffing compounds used after the wet sanding.

Here's one of my favorite pics after painting the tailgate with the retro FJ40 decals: Wanted to use the real emblems, but the TOYOTA one is curved.

That looks great!

Love the retro badges!

That is AWESOME. And mine is already halfway there :D

That the best color combination I have ever seen, possibly because it reminds me of my favorite beer...

Fantastic job.
