I’m excited to have found this information source. I own a rare 1984 BJ40 that was restored by Elite Land Cruisers lacking a heater and a radio. I want to maintain the originality of the truck but am having trouble finding a radio. I don’t even care if it works or not. Need to be attractive, clean and include attachment screws, brackets, etc. I just want to plug the hole. Any ideas?

You can put a wanted ad in the classified section. Radios are fairly scarce, there are some folks who sell factory looking 3d printed radio delete plates also.

I tried a nice radio with cd player in my 72. CD player worked good when parked, marginal on paved roads, the dirt trail home not so much. Radio ok out on the flat land, not so much in the canyon around home or the road to town.

I'm thinking some sort of SST hard drive would be vibration proof

Today I should be getting my HAM radio antenna. I'll be installing my 2M 80W unit. With the local repeaters I can ask for help up to hundreds of miles away. The handheld units do FM radio if you are looking for news/weather.

This looks like the one you need for the 82-84 BJ40 per the EPC, 86120-60041, I don't have one, but you can show people what you are looking for.
