I did not properly check clearances behind the kick panel on the driver side of center console before drilling a hole for a new switch. I realized upon completion of the job something was wrong with ABS, VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, and Skid lights all on. The "P" on dash also doesn't light up when in park however it does when going into other gears. I've also since realized the Rear A/C and Entertainment system is completely dead.

Upon closer inspection the bit has apparently grazed this main wiring harness (to the left and sheathed in black) and also a group of wires coming out of a connector just to the right. I took everything apart yesterday in an attempt to resolder wires however it's pretty damn confusing without a proper wiring diagram. Would it be possible just to replace this harness as a whole? I've been looking through diagrams and lexussouthatlanta parts to try and determine what I would need but no luck.

Do I have any option here short of taking it to the dealer and having them sort through each wire?

Lesson learned.

Picture from further out for reference. The problem area is on the left side of console.

yikes! You might be able to repair each wire individually, but if you end up changing the harness, I'd be interested in your damaged one.

I made an attempt at repairing each wire individually but it's a PITA because there is no slack in the wires. I spoke with a Lexus Tech on FB who said he would suggest repair over replace because it's a part of the main interior harness.

Said it's a fairly minor repair and id be out a couple hours labor so I'll just go that route I guess.

The only things I've noticed so far are no rear A/C or DVD, warning lights on dash so I'm fairly sure ATRAC is disabled, and stereo sound weaker so I lost an amp or something somewhere. I can deal with those things for a week or two.

Sounds like a solid fix. They might splice in some extra wires to make it easier to repair, but a few hours of labor isn't bad when compared with the amount of work it will take to pull that harness out and install the new one.

Solder with heat shrink wrap. One by one. Looks like thE speed control ecu harness

you need to just add in more wire, so you have two splices instead of one. I don't think you can get the correct color, but you should be able to get the right gauge.

I did a little more investigating last night. There are actually two harnesses in question and it's really hard to make heads or tails of it. The wires more confusing than I thought because with two harnesses there are duplicate colors. I made an attempt at pairing a few together but no luck. It's looking like a dealership trip.

Oh well. Lesson learned

Man that is bad luck! Personally wiring is something that i've never excelled at, so don't feel bad- if I were in your shoes i'd more than likely be doing the same thing. Hopefully they can fix it like new!

I feel your pain! I hit the rear wire harness on my 80 series when installing a CO2 bottle bracket. Job was all done and looking good until I went to turn on the truck to park it. Luckily I had enough slack to repair the wires until I found a used harness from an 80 being parted out.

Did you get started on a repair yet? Looks like it's right at the molex connector. If so, you could de-pin it and like others have mentioned add in some extra wire to make connecting it back together easier. Hopefully nothing shorted!
