So 8 years ago tonight I walked out of a building that blew up, crossed a creek and hopped on a chopper. That would be my last combat mission as an assaultman. So to celebrate I decided to cut the freaking rear frame.

Then I tried cutting out the rivets So I can bolt the bumper.

Then I couldn't get the bumper to fit because the frame collapsed a bit. So I field rigged it by using an oak tree and a strap.

It stretched out the frame enough for the bumper to fit perfectly. It got too dark, so tomorrow I'll remove it to drill the holes then install it once and for all.

oak trees have also helped me split the rims off the tire. soo useful.

I forgot to mention, looks like the exhaust is not gonna be an issue.

Yeah it fits perfectly. I'll try to take pictures during the day to show you. Might not be until the weekend though.

No worries, thanks for the update. I'm trying to figure out how much these frames are collapsing when cut. Any idea how much on yours?

I would say no more than a 1/4 in. I couldn't tell with the naked eye that's for sure. The rivets were hitting the bumper, so I buzzed them a bit then stretched out the frame with the strap. The bumper fit in perfectly. Tomorrow if I get home early enough I hope to drill the frame and mount it on there for good, or at least until it's time to paint.

So far 1/4" to 9/16" is the range. I'm just trying to find a happy medium for the receiver widths that way people don't have to struggle with the install so much.

Here's the quick and dirty. I needed to push it in a few more mm so I backed up into the oak tree. Fit perfectly, then I repainted the spot. Every guy who works on his truck needs an oak tree.

the muffler didn't have to be cut, it was ... what's the word, perfect fit
