Wait you have a Prius...?
McGuire, I'm impulsive, not stupid. Work has a prius and since it's a business trip they want me to take it. I'm taking Big Red with the paddle board. I'll just charge extra hours for the fuel and inconvenience :D

Haha I feel ya, my grandpa has an '03 Prius and it gets around 50mpg. They make sense...
I'm gonna try and make the meeting in Austin this Tuesday, hope to see you there!

Someone help me figure this out. I drove the cruiser from Austin to Dallas in the rain. There was some wind so maybe that was a factor. Here are my issues, I had hard time getting it above 60 mph and it was a dog at the slightest incline. Boost couldn't go higher than 10 psi and I pretty much drove for two hours at 1200* f at the pyro.
Today it's sunny I'm able to go about 70 and at some point 80 downhill. Boost still doesn't go above 10 and my egt is lower by about 100* to 150* . I suspect there may be a boost leak somewhere, but I'm worried the hot side of the turbo may have warped.
Do you guys think water could have reached the air filter through the snorkel causing some blockage? I have about 2 more hours to get home and I'm confident big red can make it, I just want to avoid breaking something.

Sounds like a boost leak.
That's what I was figuring. I have to find it. You've rebuilt a turbo, how hard is that and where did you get the parts?

So found the leak. Checked the turbo, there's no play. Tightened it back up and ordered stronger clamps.

Had to remove the air box to get to it.

While I wad doing that I found where the freon leak is coming from. The joy of owning this rig never ends.

Two issues for sure.

#1, you're using a worm gear clamp on a boost fitting. No bueno. Buy some t-bolt clamps from Silicone Intakes
#2, if any boost tubes don't have a flare on the end, then they will slide off, despite using the best clamps.

There are some methods on 4btswaps of adding a flare to existing tube, or you can buy flared tubing from siliconeintakes, linked above.

As a temporary fix until you can get a flare on that tube, spray the tube with hairspray, then put the boot and a proper clamp back on.

EDIT for clarity. You spray around the outside of the boost tube, where the boot would contact the tube. The hairspray dries tacky and helps hold the boot onto the tube.
