i love the one i have. it opens up to a dual round shape approx 30" dia each, held together by nylon. folds up compact to about a 10" circle, kind of like a photographer's reflector. stores nicely between the center console and ebrake handle. its way more versatile because you can move it around...like part DS window part DS windshield coverage. its black on one side, and grey on the other. not sure of the brand though...

Magic Shade?

My secret-squirrel solution (making these myself):

My proprietary material:

It's flexible, which means it's easy to store. They're inexpensive, and made out of a material which is not only completely impermeable to light, but also reflects radiant heat. Camping in the summertime, and you don't want to be woken up in a stifling heat with sun in your eyes? Run them shiny side out! Camping in cooler weather, and want to keep some heat in, while still keeping the light out? Run them shiny side in (yes, they're reversible ;) ), and keep some of your body heat inside!

I'm going to be making a complete set of these to cover all the windows. Helps keep prying eyes from peeking in if you need to change too. They install super quick, and remove easily too.

yes...very similar to that. except its more circular, less oblong, and there is material on both ends which allow me to pinch one side inbetween th edoor jamb for side/front coverage without damaging the outer ring.

best type of shade so far. i want to find one thats about 50% bigger for the wifes sienna. man that front windscreen is a huge amount of glass...

Now to deal with my ignition switch as it is sticking!!!

Sticking as in the starter keeps turning?

Replace the starter contacts - sooner than later. If this is the issue it could lead to a fire. Not sure a sun shade has the ability to stop a fire.

I like my accordion style foil & bubble wrap one because it doubles as a drop cloth when I am looking at stuff under the rig and the ground is wet/cold/hard etc...:D

I have been using the Cover Craft custom cut sun shades for the past twenty years in all my cars. They fit, they work very well, they last several years, and they look nice. They really save your dash and interior as well as keeping things cooler. You can get them for about $50 delivered to your door. Don't bother with the "carrying case", you won't use it.

Covercraft Sun Shades, Covercraft Custom UV Shield, Heat Shield

There might be something new and better, but I just keep going back to this because I know it works well.

X2 on the Cover Craft... US Owned company since 1965 quality products... check them out.

Hey, I'd like to resurrect this thread if anyone is still reading it. I have a Weathertech Techshield in my jeep and really like it, except for the price (paid like $75 for it). I bought a 97 TLC in March and wanted to get a good shade, but Weathertech doesn't make one for it. I tried a Coverking for about $35, but it's too tall and is a bitch to get in behind the mirror. It's probably gonna wear the headliner out from friction too, so that's a no go.

Anybody have any new options for sun shield manufacturers for the FZJ80?

If not, does anyone know of another vehicle with the same/similar sized windshield? I was thinking I might just order something that is close to fitting from Weathertech.

Dont remember the brand but my 15 yo shade from my Volvo 245 fits perfect! Use it year-round here in Florida.

I do use car sun shade to protect my car from the sun in summer.
  • the auto sun shade shield UV rays when your car is in use.
  • control the temperature inside the vehicle.
  • Prevents interior fading & cracking.
  • beautiful outside look, make your car cool.
  • it's good for promotion as there is large space for logo printing

All of my vehicles have the Eclipse retractable sun shade. I recommend them.
