yeah, it rains every second day here ;p

:frown: Lucky....

Just so I don't feel like a highjacker here, check out the "vender marketplace" section and the thread new fj-40 bumpers in stock by IPOR.
Thats how I'm building mine...

Hmmmm, looks like I'm going to mount it inside if I venture outside Arizona;)

oh yes!!

Perferably keep away from the elements but regardless what should really happen is everytime you are planning to wheel or better yet, periodicly, make sure it's lubricated and functional or carry can of lube so you can lube it when necessary. You also have a overhual kit when it does stop working. :)

that's what I do - I have it strapped in with dog collar bands behind the rear bench, both ends rest on the wheelwells

anti-rattle: I have carpet underneath and pipe foam insulation from the hardware store wherever else may be a source of rattle; I reposition the foam when needed

Roof rack worked for my two 60" Hi-lifts...

This is a solid option as well....FROM HERE <---- this is a link

Hi-Lifts are worthless when they're covered with mud and water. If you plan to actually use it, keep it inside.

Right.........

and your truck will stay cleaner when parked in a garage and not used.....

A can of WD-40 or equivalent is a requirement no matter if stored inside or outside.

It seems like Hi Lifts are always covered in crud when you need them. The first step is always to spray it down with lube. Even then you frequently need to pound on the pins and curse at it to make it work.

Brian put his on the bumper. It doesn't rattle that I know of.....Right Brian?

I used the 4X4 RAC mounts made by Hi Lift, and mounted them on the face of my bumper. They did rattle, but the addition of a fender washer and lockwasher resolved that problem. This setup has a mounting post, drilled for a small padlock, on a sheet metal standoff, requiring four holes to be drilled in the bumper (or whatever else you're mounting to). There are two of these assemblies. The mount is secure, and it works.

I realize there are limitations to how I mounted my jack. It's prone to damage there, and probably would be better to mount on top of the bumper. This also works best with a jack that's no wider than your bumper. I'm eventually going to add a winch, and has planned on the fairlead being above the bumper, in which case this mount position may work best. But, that may well change once I get a winch.

Hi Lift http://www.hi-lift.com/products/index.htm also makes this mount kit (only one mount is shown - two are included in the kit).

Mine is mounted to the rear of the cage. Horizontal. I did it backward though. I welded a few nuts to the cage, and used bolts that are the same size as the lug nuts. This way I use the tire tool that I always have to take it off/put it on.

I made a setup to mount a hi lift to the pto winch brackets. The
lower bracket has some trimmed down nuts attached to it that
fit int the holes in the jack. This piece goes under the jack and
the jack is slipped between the winch drum and brackets. The
middle piece goes over the winch brackets and has bolts that
screw into the lower piece pulling the jack up. The bolts have
"L" shaped pieces attached to their heads. The top piece goes
over the bolt handles and locks them in place.

my truck came with a front bumper bracket, I never really knew what the brackets were for until I searched for a hi lift bracket and saw a pic of what I had...

it's nice because it has a second set of holes that you can thread a long hasp padlock through, but the front bumper is one of the vulnerable spots for sure.

I had a winter wheeling moment where I wondered (briefly) how I was going to get myself out with a curved jack (luckily the tree missed me)

there are a few rocker/windshield setups that look pretty good, or even a rear bumper mount would be more practical

Has anyone got their hi-lift jack stolen of their rigs.....? That is if they drive with their hi-lift jack on.

I use a cable lock for a gun. strong, bendable, length to go around (or through holes in jack) and to a connection point.

also, do not see many people do it, but I take the base off mine and store it in locked storage in the rig. so, the jack, on first glance, is about worthless without the base. this also has the side benefit of allowing the jack to be placed closer to the mounting area as the big foot/base is not in the way.

No Rattle Bumper Mount

Mine is mounted on the front bumper - push down on the jack to compress an old valve lifter spring - slide the tapered pin thru holes in the jack and mount - put a lock thru the shaft pin.
Easy to fab with a piece of 1 1/2 square tubing on a flat plate - all mounted on the tow hook bolts.

I put my 60" hilift in the rigth step , but after a couple of trees hit them I decide to install in the tire carrier , to now its the best place for me...

doesn't it get in the way?

Mounted..

I just need to go use it and get it dirty!

How can you reach your beer in the cooler with that in the way?
