Are you talking about the chrome strips along the body beneath the doors? I got a 62 and they are missing. There is no rust there and I was considering replacing them because there are a few open mounting holes. It sounds like I shouldn't replace them eh? Any suggestions on how to treat this part of the body that will look nice and prevent rust?

The rain gutter chrome is awful and collects moisture. The chrome running along the window sills can go too. The chrome in the windshield, cargo window and rear window weather strips is functional and would need to be replaced with the rubber inserts, unless you like leaks and rust. The snake blinders serve no purpose that I know of.

Whats fun about them? i need louder horns, want train horns...

Folks were doing train horns in the 70! that old news. I like these because there simple cheap, loud and legal. Plus Train horns are to slow for a little tap when someone is day dreaming at a light.

And train horns are way more than $50.

ALL: this thread is SUPPOSED to be for telling others about cheap mods to your rig... it's NOT meant for ongoing discussions about these mods... if you have questions or want to thrash out your mod maybe you could take it to the vehicle-specific forum... and link to that from here...?

Just sayin'

gas cap

tired of driving off without my gas cap. i put a zip tie through the top and it hooks on the lock mechanism so you can't shut the gas door without remembering to put the cap back on.

next to free.

^ thinking that's a repost, but the photo aint.

good mod.

I place mine on fuel pump where I'll see it when replacing nozzle, or on roof, so it's watching me as I fill.

I put mine on my roof but it's no longer at eye level for me so I still forget it there:bang:

^ I get how that might happen.

I'm 6' and only bumpd my 60 by 2.5", still rocking the stockish 31's? Roof height has changed, but I can still see it...

Found a good deal ($40) on a used alt from an early 80 series (I think it was a '91). Swapped the pully, and it was a direct fit into my 60...went from 55amps to 80amps in 30 mins.

How about a number off that alternator Doug?

Just took two more pics with some numbers from the case. There's no brand listed on the case, so probably it's a reman?

Is the wiring a direct plug in along with the mount bolts?
