Found a good deal ($40) on a used alt from an early 80 series (I think it was a '91). Swapped the pully, and it was a direct fit into my 60...went from 55amps to 80amps in 30 mins.

What year 80 series would fit ?are they all the same for the 80's?i could use this upgrade later on thanks for sharing.

John:cheers:

I know its maintenance but its like new window regulators for under $50. Pull off the door panels and spray white grease on the gear and the slide and any movable part on the window regulator. Then get some silicone spray and spray inside the track that the glass rides in. While you are at it use the silicone spray on all the hinges, door latch, door check and any movable part on the the body. It will be like new.

Grab handle on the passenger side A-pillar (your wife/GF/BF/SO will thank you).

Hella map light screwed to the dash just to the left of the glovebox. ~$25.

Freebie: re-aim the rear washer jet so it shoots straight back. Great for dealing with tailgaters, they get the message fast.

Another freebie: attach a small chunk of carpeting to the steering column just below the ignition, no more noise from the keys jangling against it.

I like the carpet idea, I am so tired of the rubbing keys.

Does the unit "remember" the FM frequency that it is set to or do you have to reset it each time you turn on the truck? (does it need to be in an "always-on" power plug? Does it have a battery?)

I did a cheap mod today.

The automatic transmission light is rather dim, and on a bright sunny day, very hard to see if it is on at all.
I noticed that the space in which the light bulb sits, is rather deep and black and the red lens is quite a bit up from the bulb.

So:
-I painted the inside of that bulb chamber light silver. ($2 or $3 at a local hobby shop)
-and put a transparent tube over the light. ($5 for an entire roll of tubing at local DIY shop)

The tube goes all the way up to the lens, and helps transmit the dim light to the lens and the silver paint helps a bit too.

This way you may notice the all important warning signal from your overheating a440f.

You have a H55? Looks cool.

Looks like thats in his Hilux. Interior looks funky (i.e. blue ashtray) and the 4WD shifter is in the wrong spot.

Nice shift knob, it would look good in a cruiser as well.
