Best 80's Series Mechanic Denver -- Colorado

Hi all. I'm looking for a recommendation on a great mechanic in Denver. Looking at a few rigs around town and want to make sure they're inspected by a pro before I make the purchase. Anyone have recommendations?

Slee Offroad in Golden is going to know Cruisers better than most anyone in the region, and they do inspections. IIRC the inspections aren't cheap, and I don't know what their availability is.

The problem with this area is generally the trucks get sold before you can get in for an inspection... Good luck man!

Robbie Antonson (Powerderpig) is a little north of Denver but he would totally be worth bringing your prospective truck to. He is thorough and knows 80's. He did my truck and it is still amazing!

Oleg in Sadalia. Use to run Irbis Offroad. You can find him by looking on Craigslist. He is the guy parrting out all of the cruisers and the ad says he's located in Castle Rock.

Slee has been consistently booked out by a month or so when I've called. I'm going to stop by Japanese Auto Service in Wheat Ridge this week for a few items of owner neglect (talked to them on the phone a few times, they definitely know 80s). I can report back when I'm done and let you know how it went. They know the guys at slee and get some spinoff business from slee I believe.

I'm pretty sure Oleg is the guy I bought my cruiser from. It was rebuilt from salvage with a mix/match of parts from various cruisers. Criminal record wouldn't surprise me as he was carrying a firearm when I arrived to look at the truck

Several have had heart attacks looking at dealer quotes. lol

Japanese auto service is where I would take mine if I ever had a mechanic work on it, they're a knowledgeable bunch.

Ive dealt with Chad before. He is a nice guy and used to own a 80, and can probably look at your cruiser without booking a month ahead of time. Dealer can be fine for a pre purchase inspection as long as you get a honest mechanic that knows what they are doing they will let you know the issues with the vehicle. But price quotes will be high. Colorado Toyota Specialists is another place that works on cruisers from time to time.

Just got my truck back from Japanese Auto Service in Wheat Ridge. Nice guys, and they do know 80's. At least a couple built 80's in the parking lot at any given time. They basically just did diagnosis for me since I have confirmed that I am still too cheap to have a shop do any major work on my truck They did fix my cruise control for a reasonable price. Feels good man.

Cliffs notes: good shop, would trust with my truck. Not cheap!

Thanks for all the feedback. I’ve an appointment booked with Robbie Antonson. Sounds like a lot of people trust this guy with their rigs and from a brief 30min conversation I can see why.
