It's replacement time for the stock 7 inch sealed beams. Just one of many needed up grades. Now that the months of darkness aren't far off(winter)it's ASAP. LED?Halogen?if I have to redo harness it's no big deal the idea of less draw with led is a bonus. Is it better to buy good lenses and h4 bulbs or replace with round led? I have 0 experience with led. Aux lights will come after a bumper. It's a 24v system except headlights which are 12v. Lil help would be nice thanks. It seems they are hard to compare lotta BS ont the web.

I like Cibie E codes the best, also have Hella, IPF, Kioto e codes, all the paterns are a bit different, the cibie to me have the best. I run the ARB/IPF h4 harness

I'm probably the minority here, but I went with LED. Since no one makes a high output alternator, I liked the idea of drawing less amps from the one I have and there is no need to upgrade the harness. I was going to add a 20" LED Bar, but really, no need with the LED set up. It puts out plenty of light.

I went xeno lights .
Huge upgrade from factory sealed lights .
Cost was not cheap , but now I am happy .
Can afford to forget the extra lights in some trips.

My cruiser has rectangular lights but I made a custom headlight unit for my motorbike a while back with a std size 7" round H4. The best thing I found was a polycarbonate one from Narva, light, unbreakable & with a modern reflector design that throws a really good beam.

Cheers

Thanks the poly carb is a wanted featurecan I buy them individual and use h4 bulbs or led would be even better as I want to reduce draw.

Semi sealed headlights with hid projector retrofit?

What do you consider high output? Terrain tamer makes 100 and 110 amp ones. I am partial to the trucklite LEDs, since i have them. remember to get a resistor so your high beam indicator works

I've run Bosch H4 headlights in my BJ70 for a few decades. They are very much like the Hellas. They work well and easy to replace the bulb. In fact, I carry a spare bulb with me at all times. I recall replacing one bulb in last 20 years.

I don't know about best, but I run JW LED's and could not go back to halogens...
I hear they sell the heated version (for those folks living in snow country) units now days...

Truck lite was recommended by my local guy too. The poly carb feature. I've broken glass ones before but am Leary about scratches.

I'm wondering why you need to heat these lights. Do led lights get snow and ice building up on them or what? Cause that's a problem in Winterpeg it's -40 minimum several times each winter. But it also rains because of fluctuating climate so ice up is p normal if I scrape them they will scratch. Perhaps there is another reason, any advice would help this is a deal breaker for me.

From Truck-Lites website ........
Truck-Lite's most advanced headlamp upgrade now also features a Heated lens which heats automatically under 10°C/50°F, preventing ice and snow build-up on the lens. Existing features include a solid state bulb-free design for a brighter, crisper and whiter light output that’s closer to the color temperature of actual daylight. Our lamps kits are worth every penny, and are guaranteed to deliver dramatic improvements of light projection distance and overall visibility.

Correct. I run these and have not had any issues. Not cheap, but worth the long term investment.
