I bought this about 1976 FJ40 about 6 monthes ago. It was a frame on restoration that I did myself. I did the body work but had somone spray the paint on. I took all the body panels off preped and sprayed. I am about 90% complete. Need a new exaust system and some touch up here and their. I wanted to keep it as original possible. Here's the before.

More pics-I have yet to clean the inside from all the body shop dust. I have to remount the TOYTA emblem. I bought it on EBAY and the posts didn't line up with the holes.

Looks great. Did you leave all of the exterior fasteners bare metal? I can only make out the rear door and spare fasteners. I am trying to decide if I like them painted or stainless. They were painted from the factory....i think. Agreed on the spare, but I would match the vehicle wheels with the spare(stock wheels). Anyway, Looks great.

All the fastners are stainless and were left bare metal. I think it looks better that way. I am going to change the spare when I need new tires. The spare was original and it has loads of cracks. I would like the spare toi match the tires, so at that point I'm going to change it. Another note i think if you paint the hardware you would get a lot of chips when reassembling or making adjustments.

Nice work !! Can't beat the classic look.

Wow looks great...and not bad for a 14 year old...?!?! I'm assuming thats your son in the reflection!!??

Dude is that you in the windsheild reflection?

Great job, although I would have painted the wiper cover red.

2x on the bumper and spare tire.

I also like the round mirrors better from the before pic....

Yeah, I like the round ones better, CCOT messed up my order.
