I removed my front drive shaft in an effort to figure out a vibration I was having at highway speeds. After I removed the front shaft I started to drive and now I am getting a bearing squeal starting at about 10 mph. Any ideas? I did not get out of the driveway because I was afraid I would damage something.

MacCruiser- did you remember to lock the CDL after removing the driveshaft?

yes, i have a cdl button installed. the abs and cdl lights are both on.

how much of a vibration? If you have a bearing squeal I would check the bearings for sure before you go too much further. A vibration and a squeal is a little concerning.

When was the last time you did the bearings?

You may also want to check the rotors to see if you have a hanging pad/caliper.

The vibration is not too bad. My brother in law also has a 97' 80 series and his rides without the same vibration at around 60 mph.

The squeal did not start until I removed the drive shaft.

I just put the drive shaft back on. I will let you know if the noise goes away.

I would jack up your front end ASAP and grab the tire at 12 and 6 and give it a shake...if it has any play you need to get into those bearings ASAP.
