Has any one crossed the Verde River below Horseshoe Dam lately? I am thinking about going for a day trip tomorrow (4/18/2020) and was wondering how fast the Verde is flowing and if it is crossable.

Thank you.

The release at Horseshoe changes sometimes daily, you can check it at Watershed Connection - Daily Water Report

Good rule of thumb is anything over 350cfs is probably something you don't want to cross. Today is 600cfs for example

@brices123 Not trying to impose but let me know your schedule. Not sure I can do an all day but if possible was looking to get out somewhere tomorrow as well. If you're looking to go solo understand. I may have to think somewhere closer like Box Canyon anyway. We'll see.

2 weeks ago it was impassable due to them letting water out of the lake. I watched a UTV attempt to cross and get swept downstream 100 yards.
Possibly doable in a truck, I wasn’t going to risk it.

I did not go and even check it out. Might try and go out this weekend. Might take the dog for some heat relief.

I went to the Horseshoe dam a few days ago got there around 2pm ish and left around 5 pm. The trail out of Horseshoe was completely underwater - I would say at least 2 or 3 feet. It hadn't rained in at least one day but it was cloudy. Any idea why it would have flooded like that? It was weird - kinda like high tide at the beach lol

Did you get any photos?

Best picture that I have from a video that I took - the entire trail out is flooded. It was actually slowly flooding so I took a leap of faith and sent it lol

Is this on the east side of the river? North or south end of the lake?

Try to post the video, or a link. I am curious to see it.

the crossing over the Verde River to Chalk Mountain Road is downstream from the dam, and this appears to be upstream in the lake bed (as I can see both the dam and the boat ramp)

and where you are with your truck is not a "trail" - it's where people drive when the lake level is low
