It will be spendy. Projected cost for the chunk is $1200, which is reasonable considering what it takes to make it. I just think it is really cool :)

Making stuff like that in short runs has to be costly.

And there is the old supply and demand curve from Econ. 101 to be considered.

Ya I agree with that................

No trussing needed on those fancy houings.

The nines are the sniz s*** for set and choice of gears

Think this was the thread that included the discussion on shock loading from Detroits or lunch box lockers - thought I'd repost a pic from a friends wheeling trip last weekend...

Jesus. I've seen a cracked carrier from a split center pin but never one split in half like that. Good work!

Hi All:

D*mn Sputnik tell us more about this breakage! :hillbilly:

Tire size, engine size, gearing, type of 'wheeling, etc. :D

Thanks.

Alan

This was Steve's FJ60. Originally belonged to Eric J. who chopped the roof off and put in a partial cage - several pics of it in TT a few years back at GSMTR and maybe even Katemcy Rocks. Still SUA with 37" MTRs and lunchbox lockers. Recent mods include a very impressive Isuzu diesel conversion (Steve also has a more stock FJ60 with a GM diesel conversion - both run on veggie oil), Toyota 5 speed, and a crawl box with split case. Tends to carry tons of gear, spares, tools, etc. and apparently he was trying to keep up with a bunch of mini's and a built 40. I think he also tends to forget he's in a wagon and tries to follow the same lines - thing has massive amounts of body damage...damn nice ride all around, and both he and Eric have always driven it to trail rides.

Hi All:

Thanks for the info Sputnik.

So, big tires, lots of torque, a bit of weight, and low gearing. Actually appears to be a reasonable failure of the components involved! It seems that he needs to move-up to something stouter like Dana 60s.

Regards,

Alan
