Sweet!

For those asking, I have the 40gal and I keep it half full all the time. That gives me more or less a complete extra full main tank but not have an unnecessary amount of weight floating around. (It's also super easy because its 2/4 green marks on the gauge) When I am going on a longer trip (being able to drive 650 miles on the interstate without stopping is great) or plan on some serious miles of MPG sucking sand wheeling I fill her all the way up and use what I need. I don't notice a difference in handling between full and empty. However I actually prefer it half full because i have the heaviest OME coils and it rides much nicer with the weight.

I have a 12.5 gallon and it is great. Makes long trips and even around town better with less fuel stops.

I have two minor issues though. Filling up can take a little finesse to keep the pump from continually tripping off. Also, the tank will occasionally expand and contract with a fairly large boom.

Dumb question will I need to change my springs when gas is full? I have Icons with CDC adjustments but they are a pain to adjust (mounted in a hard to reach place). I'm pretty sure the way the LC sucks gas I will top it off on a day when gas is extra cheap.

Those adjustments are for compression and rebound dampening only. Not load bearing.

So yes. You will most likely want heavier springs in back...unless your ride is already too stiff in back.

Yes, that is my 200 series install that Ryan at OTRAMM did for me a couple of weeks ago. Great service and pricing, and I am enjoying his videos. My full size 305 18" Fuel/Ridge Grappler spare fits fine under the 12.5 G tank. Tank seems to work flawlessly, used the transfer pump for the first time earlier this week, slight humming sound in the cab, which I am pleased with, as it gives audible indication of operation without being annoying. Obviously, there is a better return on the cost of the mod if you go with a larger tank, but I do not plan to change the OEM rear bumper on this vehicle, so I am pleased that Ward and Georg offer all three sizes.

Awesome! Even more awesome you have a 305 hung below.

Could I ask you for a favor and send me a pic of your rear end. o_O I'd like to get a sense how far my 305's going to hang down.

We are always happy to help.

First we have heard of this fill issue on the 200s. Tacoma, yes, not the 200. Can you leave it on first nozzle stop?
Also, first report of the exp/contr - is there a correlation with ambient temperature?

Only one man's opinion, but I like air bags for fine tuning load and ride.

This is my wife’s DD so these are her words, the aux tank fills fine on the fast speed, but the main tank has to be on the slow speed and the nozzle pulled out a little. In her words, “Just the tip.”

The expansion and contraction issue is in all temperatures. She said it happened today in our cooler weather. Cool for Houston.

It isn’t causing any usability issues, but need to have @duggy look at it sometime.

Thanks for the intel and for the opportunity to be of service.

I used mine for the first time over the last two weekends, filling the main from the LRA. To me this was game changing. Had a drive that was just over a tank full, and to be able to extend range really made a difference. I have the heavy Ironman springs and really don't notice the weight at all when full (24 gal), and wheeled Windrock with it full and no issues at all. I have noticed the main tank fill process does require a bit of finesse as mentioned above, but if that's the worst of it, I can deal with that.

If I rated all my mods given my build, I'd put gears at the top, and the LRA right below that. So nice! And in a nice twist of fate, I got two hats :)

So is there a shop near Denver who installs these and how much does it all run? This seems like a mod that for me might take precedence over a front bumper - especially over the winter. I would do the 12.5 as I am not interested in doing a rear bumper.

Also, I noticed in the install video that they temporarily removed the trailer wiring plug. I’m wondering if, we’re I to have someone doe this, I could also have them move that plug. It is a pain in the next being way off to the side like it is.

Cristo and Ben at Slee can take care of you.

I have the 24 gallon tank (was going to go for the 40 gal, but @Markuson talked me out of it, and glad he did). In short, it works as advertised. Which I'm impressed with as I did half the install myself and the other half with assistance from a solid mechanic. If you are trying to do the install yourself, it can be done even if you aren't an experienced mechanic, but without a lift, it's a challenge. Also, we ended up fab-ing a bracket for the small black box that has to be relocated to the wheel well so that it was out of the way of the pump and new fill pipe. Otherwise, it was pretty straight forward.

I love having the tank. I just put KO2 285/75r17s on, and my driving has been so varied that I don't really know what my typical mpg will end up being. I'm pretty light on the throttle, so I'm guessing I'll average between 13 and 14 (city driving, back and forth to work), which is over 600 mile range. Sometime this November I'll have the Slee rear bumper on, which would give the me ability to carry another 15 gallons in jerry cans if that was necessary, getting me to +800 mile range.

From a performance stand point, I put OME 2723 springs on in anticipation of the tank, bumper, and spare tire. It runs stiff now, but after I get the bumper on, I expect the handling to be spot on.

Wondering if having the 24 gal tank installed would get in the way of upgrading the suspension? I suppose it makes more sense to do the rear springs first anyway.

I would do the tank first so you know how added weight will affect need for more/less spring. Tank will not get in the way of the suspension fitment. Also, they are on sale this month..... :)

@steve578 @wardharris I'm pretty sure the "boom" noise is just the sheet metal bottom flexing downward upon refilling after being evacuated. I hear it every time I fill up the aux tank. I also find that I have far fewer issues if I fill the aux tank before the main tank regarding the pumps clicking off (especially the CA variety).

I have never heard a “boom”
...but I had Valley Hybrids weld an additional lower plate of armor. They did an exceedingly nice weld job and it looks factory.

If the “boom” is normal, I can tell you that it’s completely absent on my up-armored 24 gallon tank.

I saw the leftover steel that Dom cut your armor from... I'm pretty sure there's enough rigidity on the bottom of your tank that you could use it as a jack point.

Ya, and even after all the nasty hits in 3.5 weeks of wheeling last Summer...nothing even touched my tank! It’s so nicely tucked.

I can’t remember how much extra they charged to weld and paint the extra steel, but I remember my reaction...which was that I was amazed they didn’t charge more. :)

And ya. After banging around on it yesterday, I agree. It is solid as a dang ROCK.
