I talked the wife into purchasing a 12.5g LRA tank during their Black Friday sale and am now ready to have it installed. Anyone have this done by a shop in the DFW area they’d recommend? Was going to call Tandem Off-road but not sure who else may have experience with these…I don’t want to be a guinea pig if I can help it.

Thanks in advance!

I've had work done at Frisbee Automotive in Waxahatchie. He seems to specialize in Land Cruisers. Pricey but they seemed to do a decent job.

I've heard good things about Frisbee; I've primarily had Tandem Offroad in Haltom City work on mine when I don't want to. I've also gone to Goode's Offroad in Rowlett and have been happy as well. Tandem are good dudes--I had Slee do my LRA while they were doing the bumper, but I wouldn't have hesitated to have Tandem do it

Top of Class on Frisbee. They primarily focus on LC and, like Slee, people ship them trucks from all over the country.

I went to Tandem, good guys and others have had great luck as well. I had them install my switch pro, then sent the truck to SLEE for some other wrk. SLEE indicated that the Switchpro was installed upside down by Tandem.

I had good success with Goode Offroad, they are a Land Cruiser specialist and work on regular maintenance to major mod projects and restorations of old LC's. You can have LRA ship tank direct to them.

Frisbee did check my cabin filter (they didn't break the flap door so +100 there) but left my filter not clipped in. Took me weeks to figure out it why my recirc wasn't working and my A/C was acting wonky in the summer. Seemed like his son was the "mechanic in training" so whatever...

However, I went there for my brakes and no complaints from the important stuff. Just VERY pricey. Like more expensive than the Lexus dealer.

Thanks for all the feedback. I think I’ll give Goode’s a call as they’re the closest to me + they’re on the LRA list.

They installed mine and I have had no issues. I had the 12.5 installed and oftentimes wish I had gone with the 24 gallon.

That’s good to hear, I went with the 12.5 as well. We tow and keep our dogs in the back of the LC when we do so a swing out wouldn’t work for us for a spare.

I drove three hours to have Tandem install my 40gal LRA a few years ago - install was botched and cost me another $500 to have a local to me mechanic fix it (lines weren’t routed correctly and pump wouldn’t transfer gas). It hasn’t malfunctioned since.
Just a single interaction with them but I remember when I called and told them I was back home and it stopped working they sort of just told me I could bring it back if I wanted and was otherwise out of luck.

I had a similar experience with an LRA
recommended shop for an issue I was having. Three hours away. Each way.

They ended up adding another issue to what I had already been dealing with.

Up to you on who you choose, but vet them before you go the best you can. Check the local TX forum for recs @mindcrash as they may have direct experience vs reputation only.

Just a follow up to help future searches with a similar question. I had the install done by Goode’s last week and am pleased. Tank works great and even better, no codes. Will definitely be considering them for future work that I don’t want to do myself as well.
