What is a diff/pinion issue?

The gears are all new 4.56's. and bearings in both the front and rear diffs.

They are Serria gears and installed at the sametime as the ARB's by mud vender. Is there anything I can do to check them?

Thanks JMRINS!

That's sounding more and more like a diff/pinion issue

Weekend

Lets get together this weekend and check it out. You have probably gone over it a 100 times, but maybe we can spot something else.

Update-

Hanging out on Saturday waiting to work on the vibration and thought I'd work on locating my ARB compressor in the rear quarter.

See how it goes.

Notice anything under the hood??? My next project is to plumb in a fully "smogged" airbox that will work with my snorkel...

I'll LYK what we findout about the vibration.

Thanks.

Thanks B!!!!!

Well, with exrsa1's expertise, he narrowed it down to the drive shaft. We checked tire pressure, removed the rear DS and ran it on the front DS. He disassembled the rear DS at the yoke and rotated 180 degrees and we put it back in and it stopped the rumble/vibration!
Now, I will be calling the DS company that did my DS and UJ's and express my concern since they are the ones that installed the new U's and balanced it (or so they said)...anyway, thanks to everyone that gave advice! I really appreciate it!

Glad you got it tracked down....nothing worse than a bad vibration, especially since you've gone through such an extensive redo. Nice Truck!

Glad it was simple, good on yah (or do Aussie expressions irk the English?)

Where did you get the airbox assembly for use with the snorkel? I'm thinking
about doing this myself...

It's from a HJ60. I ordered it from a guy out of Canada that has HJ parts trucks. I'll see if I can find his address.

If your wanting to keep it smogged you may also need a second FJ60 air cleaner to cut up for parts and fabrication pieces. I didn't want to cut up my orginal one since it's in good shape.

Thanks for your help!

Correction-

It's a airbox out of a BJ60...

I originally tried to get one shipped out of Aus. but couldn't get it done. I was given John's contact info in Canada and he hooked me up with the airbox. Great guy to work with!

Here's his e-mail address: john_barron@shaw.ca

and his company's name: e4 auto repair

Good luck!

Update-

I couldn't find a spot for the ARB compressor that I liked, so I ended up making up a bracket that takes advantage of the two frame holes on the front passenger side. But, due to the Aussie aircleaner I had to be creative in the angles of the bracket for it to fit....The pics show the bracket and install.

I also fabbed up a new carb intake to hook up to my aussie aircleaner and still allows for all the smog equipment to attach to it.

I'll take some additional pictures of the intake once I have it all hooked up.

Thanks.

I use Rust-oleum "Professional" rattle can. It's about $6 a can from Home Depot/Lowes, but It's always worked great and drys fast.

Good luck!

It took cutting up the old aircleaner, adding a new bottom and side and re-routing the airpump intake, but it wasn't too difficult. I'll let everyone know and do a write-up when I get it all back together.

Good luck.

Stockton Wheel Modification

I've been running the OEM factory steel wheel for sometime now and like the looks but wanted a little wider footprint. So, I've pulled the steel wheels and shipped them out to Stockton Wheel in California and having them widen to 15 x 8 from the 15 x 5.5.

Now, when I did the research (on mud) I didn't locate many pictures of the process and I've been working with a great guy at Stockton (Glen Knowles, an a 80 owner!) and he took these photos of my wheels being cut up and widened. I thought you all would enjoy them.

Once I get them back, painted and mounted I'll do a before and after shot.

Take care.

Bumper Updgrades

I worked on my bumper this weekend. I added a Hella utility light, 3rd Brake Light and a Safety Pin.

The light bracket was fabbed up out of 1 1/2 tube welded onto the spare tire hoop of my SROR bumper.

The Safety Pin bracket is 3/8 plate and a farm implement pin and pin lock ( purchased at local farm and ranch store.) I did the safety pin because all of the weight of the swing arm is only secured by the cantilever clamp....and I've seen these types of clamps break, so I thought the safety pin would be good insurance.

Smog Legal Snorkel Air Cleaner

Ever since adding my Safari Snorkel I wanted to connect it to my stock air intake and keep all my smog equipment. So once I finally located a BJ60 air cleaner I moved forward with trying to locate parts (from the local junk yard) to fab up an intake system that attached to my carb, but also keep all my smog equipment......Well, after some trial and error I finally gave up.

I started looking at the original FJ60 aircleaner and noticed that it had all the necessary smog intakes on the intake plenum, so I cut the intake plenum from the top cover. I cut the cold air intake and shorten it and welded it on the opposite side so the BJ60 air cleaner outlet tube would match up.

Since the air pump hoses are routed a very specific way, I cut the air pump intake tube off of the old FJ60 housing and welded it into the new body.

I also had to add a 2 inch band around the bottom of the FJ60 plenum, then cut and weld in a bottom plate with a bracket to attach to the top of the valve cover where there is existing pre-tapped holes.

This set-up now gives me a smog legal, snorkel ready, water proof system....I haven't driven the truck yet due to waiting on my wheels, but once I do I'll update the thread.

Thanks
