Is that the intake off the one i parted? Its really coming together. You wont want to get that thing dirty when your done.

Oh, It'll get dirty in Moab this year!

Yep, that's the part you gave me! Thx!

BTW - I'm just waiting on B. before I ship the slider....he has some parts for you that he wants to throw in the box.

Got the tracking numbers on my wheels today....should be here in a couple of days! I'll paint the wheels and get them mounted!!

CM is coming up fast!!

I've been running the OEM factory steel wheel for sometime now and like the looks but wanted a little wider footprint. So, I've pulled the steel wheels and shipped them out to Stockton Wheel in California and having them widen to 15 x 8 from the 15 x 5.5.

Now, when I did the research (on mud) I didn't locate many pictures of the process and I've been working with a great guy at Stockton (Glen Knowles, an a 80 owner!) and he took these photos of my wheels being cut up and widened. I thought you all would enjoy them.

Once I get them back, painted and mounted I'll do a before and after shot.

Take care.

What would happen if you welded a piece of tube inbetween next to carb opening so you could stick a screwdriver down through the air cleaner to adjust the carb with out taking the air cleaner off?

That's a great idea....I may do that when I get back from CruzMoab...It's crunch time right now. I got my wheels back and am prepping and painting them, along with a ton of other things to get done in 30 days!!!

wheels show up yet?

Primed and getting ready to paint.

They turned out great!....15 X 8 steelies that will take the oem hubcaps.

I choose to paint them, instead of powder coating, so that if they need touched up in the future to fix scratches, dings, rust it's something can be done easily versus having them re-powder coats.

I'll throw some pix up once they go back on the truck.

Cargo Platform

"One way, not the only way...)

Since I needed a way to carry and secure my Pelican cases and camping gear. I initially wanted the draw system, but didn't care for the weight and fixed design (and I'm a Pelican case geek..). So, instead I designed a "Cargo Platform" that my gear could be strapped too and give me an infinite layout capabilities.

Basically, It's a 4 x 8 sheet of 3/4 inch cabinet grade plywood. measured and cut to the length/width of the rear cargo area with the back seat folded down. I routered the edges and drilled "tiedown" holes around the entire perimeter. It's coated with Black polyurethane stain.

The Platform will sit in the back of the LC with the Engel fridge/slider attached. Camlock straps (1000lb strength) will be placed through each hole and used to lash down the pelican cases. I also built metal cages for the water cans and propane tank that also will be attached to the platform.

To secure the platform, so that it wouldn't become airborn in an accident or rollover, the platform is attached to fixed mounted MAC towdowns in the LC cargo area.

One benefit about this system is it can be removed and hung in the garage when not needed and allows the use of the entire cargo area.

Good luck on your design!

Looking good. They look wider than 8 inches. Have you measured them?

:-)

It's funny, if you measure them at where the bead sits, they're 8 inches wide, but measure them at the edge of the rim and they're 9 inches....

Not sure where to measure them from?

What have you been upto today? This snow really su@#$ for working on the Cruzer.

Some more pics of the platform loaded...(It's snowing here in KC, so I was playing with the layout)

Basically, the two front yellow cases are for clothes. The 2 blue cans on the right are water. In front of the WC's is a 10lb Propane bottle with a safety cage on top of it.

The first row has two PC cases. The front one is for parts, supplies and fluids. The second one is my camp kitchen.

The top row has two cases. The front large one is camping supplies. The second smaller one is for dry food.

The Engel fridge is on the left. In front of the fridge is a smaller pelican tool case. In front of the tool case is canvas bags containing recovery gear (accessible by the driverside rear passenger door)

I had a prototype platform on my last trip and worked very well, this is a new and improved version.

I forgot to mention why I placed the items, where I placed them on the Platform. With my last design I had everything (fridge, kitchen, water, etc.) at the tailgate. It made for very easy access, but also put all the weight behind the axle and with my bumper, that was a lot of weight. So, I moved the water cans, parts case, tools and anything not needed over the axle or slightly in front of the axle.

We'll see how it works in Moab....

You're good then. I guess it is just the picture that made it look that way. Yeah this snowing and rain is not good for getting things done. This is what I have waiting in the garage for me, but no way I can get to it now with all this moisture in the air.

The sandblasing really cleaned up everything. The roofrack is painted at least. I need to figure out how I am going to mount my Pelican's as well. Since you have it figured out, maybe we can get together and discuss sometime.

WOW-

That's looking good!

Good luck on the weather and painting.

LMK when your ready to get started on your other projects.

I have today off...29 days and counting to Moab...I got my Waytek switch panel and switches. They'll go in the ashtray hole. Fits perfect. I hope to spend the next couple of days finishing the ARB compressor wiring and putting the final paint on my wheels.

Got the ARB compressor airlines and wiring put in yesterday. Finished painting the rear bumper work light bracket and safety pin. I'll be working on the cargo area inside today due to the rain.....I'll put some pix tonight.

It was a good weekend!

Got my compressor, lockers and switches installed, along with finishing up my bumper, dual battery trays and radiator overflow bottle relocated!

I'll finish detailing the wiring, but otherwise it all went together nicely. I should have my Stockton wheels mounted next weekend.
