Hey everyone.

The ashtray on my 93 is crap. It looks like crap. It functions like crap. So I removed it. The hole in the dash looks less crappythan the ashtray. But what would be really nice is a plastic blank that fills that opening and looks factory WITH a couple of factory cut outs for switches.

So, I took a couple of pics and sent them to the person I know that could possibly make this happen. Would anyone else be interested in this? This would fit the 91-94 80 series. I believe the 95-97 are different.

If enough people have interest @bhicks will do it.

As far as price point, you either want it or you don't. It won't be stupid expensive but probably around $30.

Or if someone knows of something that already exists then that is cool too. Link it up and we all can move on to other things!

I'd buy one if he could print me a mirrored version to fit a RHD dash.

All of my cup holder designs are mirrored for the RHD folks. I usually keep one of each in stock for the RHD 80. doing a mirrored dash insert would be super easy.

For 30 bucks I am down
Lovett my cup holders BTW. Hope the carpet is working out for you. Saw your thread and how you are installing it in a fallen mudder's truck.

Cool, my ash tray is long gone. Would be good to fill that hole with something useful.

Edit: I'd also go something to replace the cigarette socket with too. But that's probably a niche market within a niche market.

@serenity: Most people replace the cigarette socket with a USB outlet and call it good. Easy fix and many off the shelf parts available. Good things are said about the Blue Sea versions.

(Edit: I hadn't seen these before, but might be interesting for battery monitoring.)

I cut out the ashtray and mounted a CB there... :meh:

I'd be interested. Getting my dual battery setup going and two 1 1/8 circular holes in that spot would be a good spot for dual battery monitors like the Blue Sea mini OLED or similar. I'm gonna have the fast charge dual USB in the cig spot. And the other lower rectangular punch outs are used for back up lights and other stuff.

Does anyone actually use their ash tray as an ash tray. Maybe good for keeping your old pets remains :hillbilly:

The main problem for me is that I have to swing a manual transmission shift lever around in front of that area, so it's not good having cables hanging out of there, all my USB charging and fridge power comes from a charging station mounted on the back of the centre console that's powered by my second battery. That plug in/screw in volt meter is probably the best way to use that space now.

Before I had a centre console my ash tray served as a coin holder. How many people smoke these days? None of my new cars have an ash tray or cigarette lighter.

After looking at a bunch of Google images the ashtrays look the same. Not sure behind them but don't thing Toyota would have made huge changes for those years. Would be interested in what else we could put there...

That's my cash holder!
Clearly you have never been randomly solicited.
Come to find out she wanted to know if it was 1FZ-FE or the Girly 3FE .

Coin tray as well.

I know the ash trays are different since I have a 94 that was missing one and the ash try from a lx parts rigs would not fit for what's worth.

LX450 was 95-97 so the dash is totally different. Same is true for Land Cruisers during that period.
