These still happening?

I'll be posting photos this weekend of the final product. I plan to then build around 5 kits to send out at a discount to people with various years/LC/LX/mods.

Watch the thread because I'll be posting here when they're ready to go. Since this thread/interest seems pretty sparse, I'm hoping the first few people to get a kit will help me out and spread the word.

More to come very soon!

If they will prevent the camper disaster pictured below and they fit a ‘21 with a rear Dissent bumper can you please just take my money.

I pull a small trailer too. They can't keep 100% off, but they make it a hell of a lot better. The hope is that they will fit both dissent and slee. I had to go off pictures of both though, so it's still a bit questionable. Hopefully will iron out those variables with the first few sets.

Any improvement would be an improvement. What I did at the car wash in Delores, CO can only be described as criminal, there was enough Moab dirt in that bay to build an adobe home.

Almost there! Just a few small kinks to iron out and then I'll start ordering the metal and hardware. The final brackets will be 316 stainless and the hardware a mixture of stainless and coated.

I think they will really look great with some decent tires. I made them a bit oversized for stock because my target audience is people like us who put bigger tires, lifts, spacers, etc.

Will you be able to buy just the rears or will they only be sold as a set of four?

Unfortunately I only do them in full sets. One reason is inventory gets extremely complicated when you start splitting up kits. Second is the fronts are just as, or maybe more important than the rears. The fronts keep your sliders/steps, undercarriage, body, etc cleaner and help prevent damage and corrosion.

To demonstrate a bit of real life usage. Friend of mines 470 on top of the world, Moab. They did the whole up and down with all flaps on. I took my rears off and left the front.

To avoid confusion, the rears at the time of this video weren't installed 100% properly. They don't pull away from the bumper like that when installed correctly.

Here's a more practical use. Nasty mud in Crested Butte, CO. Without flaps, the truck would have been horribly covered and sliders unusable as steps. It also kept a ton of mud from packing between the frame and body behind the front wheels and in the rear bumper.

This required triple locked and a lot of skinny pedal. Super slick and the kind of mud that is unforgiving when you want to clean it off.

Some shots of how they attach/detach. The final hardware and brackets are all stainless or coated. Rust on these final prototypes is because its much cheaper to prototype with mild steel vs stainless.

Front bracket. Can be bent inward as much as needed to clear larger tires. Also helps hold back the fender liner.

Front with flap on.

Rear with flap off. I use two brackets for the rear. The large one holding the stock bumper wouldn't be needed with aftermarket rear bumpers. That typically makes those kits a bit cheaper.

These look good, lots of coverage and I like how they’re removable. Fingers crossed they will work for me. The amount of Moab I blew off my vehicle today from our trip is astounding, this after 3 stops at car washes while on the road.

Cruise Moab 2019. Wasn't particularly wet, but you can tell who has flaps and who doesnt.

I can se how they attach and detach. Clever design. Is there anything that "latches" them in place when installed?

Not necessarily a latch, but there is a couple options for keeping them from lifting up and thus coming off unintentionally.

There is a provided bolt in which the head keeps them from lifting up. To get past it, you just pull out slightly till the urethane clears it and lift up. Super easy. Some prefer to instead bend the tab that bolt is attached to down and use that. They both work well and in the 4 or so years I've been running mine, I've never had an unintentional release of a flap.

You'll likely also note that I use plastic washers instead of metal. Some initially are disappointed thinking it's a weaker setup.

That decision was very intentional and people usually are glad once they understand. The plastic will allow the flap to "break away" if you forget to remove when rock crawling and get into a situation where the flap is pinched between a rock and the tire.

The plastic washers are cheap to replace and we throw extras in every box. If we used metal and you got into that situation, the urethane is so strong that the flap would take all the body work the brackets are attached to with it. Im talking legitimate body damage in that scenario.
