They cracked right where the metal was bend. First, the 2 fronts. They where welded and cracked again along with the 4 others on my way back (Don't criticize the soldering a Good Samaritan made when I had to come home.)

I keepted the bottom part and ask to a metal shop to make new one larger (from 2” to the full width of the support 4”1/4) and thicker (from 1/8 to 3/16).

Aside of this, nothing really broke ... maybe the ball joints that I almost terminated before changing them with 555.

I realy pay attention to the maintnance and I'm so happy to own Landcruiser(s). They are strong and solid

Looks like it needs extra lateral strength. I've been using these (NLA) for many years without issue and hundreds of miles of washboard roads. But I only carry 180 lbs on the roof. Would love an awning but don't want to add further weight.

Interesting perspective. I tend to value mine more on crappy winter weather days due to the idiots on the road. What is your winter DD to deal with said idiots?
I swap between my FJ Cruiser and a Toyota Matrix both manual transmissions (better for winter IMO).
Lets say someone slides and hits my LX, chances are very high that it will be written off due to the year so its not worth to risk it.
The FJ on the other hand if something happens I will get full replacement value and its way harder to reach total loss value.
The Matrix I don't really care what happens to it, its a 2005 with 282K, has a remote starter and good winter tires. I can replace it any day for a couple thousand dollars.

Mines relegated to a winter vehicle, with the '09 LS460 pulling duty March-Nov

Frankly- no. Not yet. Plan to, but I've had it a year and change and have been very slowly getting used to it and fixing stuff as it breaks/ wears out. Almost caught up on deferred maintenance items. But my commute is 0 miles, and I only drive the thing about 10 miles total a day- gym and back, maybe an errand or two- so it's probably gonna last forever at this rate. My rationale has been "what's the best hybrid of family hauler/ rough enough to chuck a dog in/ 4WD to get in the woods some/ can tow reasonably well" and this well-used one came up for sale from a buddy and I'd always kinda wanted a LC, so here I am.

I pretty much only use it for road trips/camping, basically a third vehicle. I commute by ebike/dirt bike/ES300 (four miles) My wallet would be crushed if I had to put a lot of miles on my 100.

Owned it for almost 3 years, drove it off road about 4-5x already or at least once a year. No overnight camping, just day trips with the wife and kids.

Haven’t broken anything yet (fingers crossed) been doing 4x4s since ‘10 with my Hilux and I think that has helped me not break anything by just by operating equipment correctly. Other than that it’s a 99% road family wagon I prefer to use (so plush on the road) even if the consumption is atrocious lol.

Not as it was intended - which is debatable- daily'd it for most of 2020 and part of 2021. It needs AC repair, wheel bearings, steering rack, all plastic and hoses replaced.
Don't feel comfortable loading all kids and wife in it just yet because those are not people I want to strand on teh side of the road.
So it primarily sees the utility aspect of things- hauling boxes from storage, towing trailer to dump when needed, carrying large items, etc.
Still love it though.

It's role in the fleet
-Wife's daily driver (226K)
-Beach Access Surf Mobile
-Small Trailer Hauler (4X8)
-Car Trailer Hauler (w/trailer brake controller) to the track (have not been in a while though)
-Sam's Club Mobile
-Foul Weather Friend

Mine is a daily driver, the default car for family outings, tows our camper, hauls canoes and kayaks for overnight paddling trips, mountain bikes, and dogs. I could do it all with a pickup, but I wanted the added interior space, and we've used all 8 seats. I enjoy riding in the woods, but this is Florida, we don't have elevation or rocks. I have to drive at least 8 hours to get to the mountains, so it's a rare occasion. My winch has done duty for pulling cars out of ditches off the side of the road, and moving downed trees after hurricanes, than it has gotten use off road.

I simply wanted something that could take our entire family of 7 anywhere we wanted to go, and places we’d never see, otherwise. I don’t use it much for commuting, since even the Sienna minivan gets 50% better mileage. When we use it, we use it very hard. And for weeks at a time. Off-roading/ over landing w/ 7-8 people, for as long as 5 consecutive weeks. Between now and next summer, I hope to upgrade the rear springs and add a little armor. And maybe replace the steering rack. Honestly, I drove through far more snow, more often, in PA - (high desert and cooler here, but less snow) The Sienna does great up to 8”, and after that there pretty much isn’t school (I’m a teacher).

Daily driver and wheeler. I don’t wheel as much as I’d like but I love my 100. My commute is only 6 miles so no big deal.

Strictly for off-road use. Though it does have a very comfortable ride on the highway. I try to keep the miles to under 7,000 a year.

Mine is used for daily commuting and camping, fishing, hunting on the weekends ands holidays.

I really like your camper, though. That looks like a pretty fun weekend setup.

Thanks, it is! We bought a mid-60s camper for cheap, which had a lot of water damage. We ended up demo'ing it and built a new one. The only original parts are the frame/springs/axle, and the windows. We improved the frame in some spots. The original camper shape was measured and drawn in CAD, and side walls were cut on a CNC from 1/2" ply. All the interior cabinetry/structure is built of 1/2" ply, it's very beefy. Interior has full size bed, dinette that converts to a bed, fridge with freezer, microwave, induction stove, ice maker, sink, and most importantly an air conditioner (mounted on drawer runners so it can pop out through it's own door). No on-board water tanks or batteries for simplicity, we always use shore power and water. No bathroom, we have a cassette toilet that we can use if no facilities are available. Weighs 2,600 lbs. Took 9 months of almost daily work, estimate cost around $5k. A whole bunch of progress pics are on instagram.

Mine's a farm truck, camper truck, hunting truck, road trip truck, hay truck, dog truck, dump truck and the designated "goin' to town" rig... I'm the 5th or 6th owner (something like that) and she just takes whatever we can throw at her. Just gotta make sure she's got enough jelly in the jar, lightning in the whirlers and fuel in the make-it-happeners and she's good to go!
