Are the metal brake lines in a metric size or standard ?

Pretty sure they're metric. Take a look through this thread.

The replacement brake pipe i used was rwgular 3/16 copper/nickel but the flare ends i used were metric (M10x1)

I can't speak to the 80 lines, but I'm having uncomfortable flashbacks to the last time I used a tool like that. I don't know... maybe the one I got was just junk, but I'm prejudiced against that style entirely.

SuperFastMatt has a good brake line video, though I'm still not sure it solves your metric or standard quandry. Next time I have to do hard lines, I'll be picking up the tool he uses.

I've just replaced and built new lines on my 80 using 3/16" copper line from Fedhill

I used this flare tool Eastwood Professional Brake Line and Tubing Flaring Tool - https://www.eastwood.com/professional-brake-tubing-flaring-tool.html but you need a vice to hold it and it may be available cheaper through other vendors. You use the 4.75 mm dies.

After I cut the line I use a deburring tool to clean the end Eastwood Tubing Deburring Tool - https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-tubing-deburring-tool.html

Finding 10 mm nut size brake line fittings of quality was a challenge Good source for brake line fittings? - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/good-source-for-brake-line-fittings.1361936/ I bought a selection from @cruisermatt

What size line is used in the 80 series ? Metric or standard size ? What type of double fare is used ? iIs it a sae inverted double flare or the Din bouble flare ? Thanks

I use this tool and carry it on trail runs.
double flare tool
Easy to get perfect double flares and can be done with only 2 hands.

And use these nuts
brake line nuts
Okay I really like that setup . So it looks like it can make 2 different double flares , Which one do I need to us ? Is the 3/16 - 4.75 mm the correct tube size that fits inside it for the 80 series ? What size tube is used in the 80 series Metric or standard ? It seems 3/16 and 4.75 mm are interchangeable is that correct ? I want to keep this tool with me in the truck also along with some extra tubing and some m10-1.0 fittings and connection piece so I can cut and replace a hole in the line if need be . Do you know what piece I would need to connect 2 m10-1.0 male ends into ? I found this unions on amazon . It says
  • For 3/16" tube
  • 10 x 1mm Threads
  • Using Inverted Flare fittings . Is a double flare the same as a inverted flare ? Will these unions be the ones I need to connect to 10x1mm males together ? Thanks
