I am looking to put an ARB rear bumper on a 1999 Lexus LX470. Does ARB make a standard rear bumper that will fit this or do I have to go with the more expensive ARB Modular rear bumper. I don't need tire carriers or fuel carriers.

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

You don't have to get the carriers.

That is one fugly rear bumper man. BIOR, IPOR, or Slee give you more for the money and look decent. My $.02

It is actually not my vehicle but a friends. He wants an ARB rear bumper to match his front bumper. Can he get a standard, non-modular bumper that would be cheaper than $1500??

Slee, BIOR. That's about it

as said, the arb is rough on the eyes and very poor with departure angle. there is no reason to match out of brand preference.

personally, i love the BIOR high clearance.

I've got a question for you insurance people. I've always wondered this. If one was towing with a bumper that is not rated for towing, and the bumper failed, or something happened and it led back to the bumpers fault. Would it still be covered? I remember a few years ago my friend had a bumper on his Land Rover and rear ended somebody. The air bags didn't go off and his passenger didn't fare to well. Insurance said since the bumper was not DOT/Airbag approved he was on his own...is this the same deal for the rear bumpers and towing?

If you're not worried about rocks I would get the ARB hands down, it is an awesome bumper.

2000 - all depends on the insurance company. If it's a thousand dollar claim they may not worry about it, but if it's a million dollar injury claim, you bet your a** they're going to deny it. But, it would have to be perfect storm of events - accident, bumper fail, injury resulting, etc.

I love my ARB rear, but it came on my truck. If I were buying it on my own, I would take a hard look at the slee and bior. They are all great products and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The ARB rear makes the 100 even more of a tank.

I second Monkey's statement - The ARB rear is amazingly well designed and engineered. Not to say slee or BIOR are not. I love the ARB rear and think it looks far better than the others out there. Its all your own personal taste.

Canyonlands this weekend. Rained like I have never seen it Southern Utah. Fun stuff.

Agreed! Spent 6 hours on my knees and back today installing mine.. still have a little ways to go but hope to get it buttoned up after the kiddos go to bed. I was warned in advance that these things are complex and take a long time to install, and this definitely lived up to expectations. One of those where you'd probably get faster with practice, but just when you figure it out you're done.

the receiver hitch is 2 3/8" higher now, compared to the receiver hitch that came with the truck- definite upgrade in departure compared to the stock bumper/receiver setup. I'll be doing the "lift mod" to the spare tire carrier underneath to get it up to the new height. And the lights were plug & play, and look great..

too dark for a picture.

I have ARB rear without swing outs, granted the other options are better for hard core offroad. However I tow a crapload, of miles every year.

It's the only option that is rated for towing, it was nice to see the 3500 K rated towing captivity. Not something that they advertise on the web site.

Couple things, the factory flaps are used with the ARB. The wiring harness is not plug and play, apparently it used to be. However they must have changed it in recent history.

It is a very well designed, unit for me it was a easy choice. The distribution center is local so no shipping , and the rated receiver is what I need.

I was suprised to see that it came with a receiver hitch and pin. Their web site sucks , they would probally sell more if the site was better.

Goes nice with my ARB front,

.

Please take a pic of your plug that came on your ARB harness. The plug is 5 pin male on the ARB harness, the factory harness is 4 pin male please get me a pic of yours.

Perhaps I just have the wrong harness,

I installed mine about 6 months ago and indeed is was a simple plug and play for me. Incredibly simple. 100% plug and play. Install is another story. Took me 2 days to put it on - but well worth it.

Perhaps I just have the wrong harness,

On the passenger side of the vehicle there are two harnesses you can unplug, one is 4-pin the other 5-pin. I unplugged the 5-pin and the ARB harness slipped right in... maybe try the other one?

Only downside with the lights is the flasher isn't rated for all the load, as I also have a TJM with turn signals in front. I just ordered some LED's for the bumper, will see how those look hopefully ok, if not then I will have to research upgrading the flasher- everything works except the hazard lights, which is the same behavior I had before when the camper was hooked up. I remember going through this on my 80 series when I had an ARB front/Kaymar rear setup, in fact I'm sure that flasher is in an old post somewhere... in 80land.

My rig is a 02 LX not sure if that relevant but I have one pigtail hanging with a dust cover on the passenger side. Next to that there are two grey plugs they both appear to be in use. One of them has 5 wires in and one out. I was thinking that might be the correct plug for the harness just have not had the time to look into it.

Yup that's the one, you unplug the one with 5 wires and use that for the ARB harness, then just abandon (tape up) the end you unplugged. I think it makes some of the lights on the hatch no longer work, not sure, by the time I finally got that bugger disconnected then connected to the new harness, I really didn't feel like swapping it back to see what changed. Undoing those electrical connections can sometimes take a while, the solution on this one was depress the little tab with your thumb, while twisting the two apart in multiple places with a screwdriver.

Only downside with the lights is the flasher isn't rated for all the load.....

I have the same exact issue/occurance. Everything works except the flashers with the ARB installed. Not a big issue for me - but curious to figure out a fix if there is one besides changing bulbs to LEDs.

I may pull the ARB harness and remove the trailer pigtail. Just run the , trailer wiring off the White factory plug. Then run the ARB lights off the grey plug, should be pretty simple.

I don't like the idea of the license plate light wires not being connected to anything, as well as the multiple connections to run the trailer wiring.
