Can someone please verify if I still need a small gap between my ARB and the fender flare. The body shop who installed it that there is no need for the gap since the ARB will not move. As you can see from the picture, they cut it precisely leaving no gap. My mechanic though disagrees and said that a small gap is needed for the bumper to flex. Please advise and thank you for your repliesView attachment 1412012

The vehicle will flex offroad - you'll need some gap.

You need a gap. Bumper is on frame, body is on flexible mounts.

X3, definitely need a gap, its also mentioned in the ARB instructions as well.

Brian Deloach- Exactly what Merlin said with the garage door seals, you can see more pictures in my build thread.

Hello Scat
Can you please post pix of how you mounted the garage seal using gorilla tape. My mechanic can not figure it out after purchasing the seal and the tape. Thanks again

Can't get pictures because I took my friends truck to work today but I basically took strips of the gorilla tape with one end stuck to the bottom lip of the bumper, the middle stuck to the garage seal and the other end sticks to the bottom side of the headlight/whatever else the tape can stick onto to keep the desired form. Cut and back it with styrofoam if you really want it to be super nice. Hope that helps

Yes my Chinese ARB. Does that upset you? Care to answer the question or just give me ? Thought we were all just sharing our mods, information and love for the GX......

No question to answer, just jabbing you. I don't support Chinese companies stealing other peoples designs and making s***ty inferior products. Just don't call it an ARB bra. I'm dropping it.

@Scat Adams I just ordered the ARB Bumper through Slee. I wont get it till June. What did you use to do the trimming? Also could you send me a link on the seal you used from home depot? Want to make sure I get the right one. Thanks!

@Romer I tried finding the link on Home Depot's website but couldnt find exactly what I used. I know the rubber on the fender cut is about half an inch in width that is a stick on 3m type seal. The other larger piece is a nail on seal that is creased in the middle and its about 3" in width.

Hope this helps, looking forward to seeing your GX built

Thanks - what did you use to trim the flare?

Used a dremel with a cutting wheel then smoothed it up with a finishing type head. Used painters tape to make the line then cut, the good thing is the garage seal can cover up and small imperfections.

Where is everyone ordering their ARBs from?

I am in the market and trying to decide between the ARB or metaltech.

4wheelparts has the Prado ARB. So does Rocky Road Outfitters. $1399 at both. 4wp has free shipping.
