The funny thing is, I posted it here because I knew I'd seen a wanted ad for one. I should have checked the classifieds and emailed you the link.

Have you PM'd lcwizard? That's Dave Gore from 4plus. He'll make you a bumper. I got a 4plus bull bar from him for $315 plus about $85 to ship it to Boston.

Really? Any pictures of your bull bar? Would love to see it.

Lee,

Where is his shop? I'm positive that is what Grant told me regarding the prices. I should probably try to get ahold of Him and see what his prices are or maybe living in the past will sell me that sweet one he has that has the winch mounting plate already on it : ). Hah

Gillesco. The fabricator's name is Jayce. I got the impression he was the owner, or co-owner. He offered to host a WALCS meeting and provide beer and BBQ, but for some reason we never took him up on it. At the time he said that he really wanted to expand his bumper fab business, and the only publicity he was getting was word of mouth through Daniel at Wimberly 4x4.

x2 on Dave Gore. Anything he builds will be the best you can buy at any price. Dave builds all the 4+ gear that's sold by Man-A-Fre.

BTW, I have the same 4+ bull bar as South Boston. Mine is the 8274 version. I may sell it, am thinking of getting something else for the great Alaska expedition.

Thank you Lee! I'll have to give him a call

Very solid custom front bumper with winch mount and lighting mount. Came off of old Toyota land cruiser, but will fit whatever you can weld it to!

I didn't see it until later afternoon of the 27th. Waited until the morning of the 28th to call expecting to hear it was already sold. To my surprise no else had even called. There was a small picture clearly showing it was the catcher's mask design bullbar. It if would have been linked to mud I sure the phone would have been ringing off the hook.

I guess I need to decide if I want to email the guy back or not. I do have a few hoods and fenders tucked away. Just not sure what cruiser I would put it on. I do a couple I could choose from.

Just called up to Gillesco and Jayce is the owner. However he isn't in today and his secretary took my number so he could call me tomorrow. I'll post up what he says after we speak.

You know you could sell that one to me and put the ARB on the one you took the other one off of hah just kidding.

Mine is also the 8274 version.

Lee- what other options are there besides the newer ARB?

I haven't seen any other FJ40 bumper options available with 8274 mounts, from Dave or anyone else. I want more protection for the 40's fenders. My plan was to ask Dave if he would build a wider version of his 8274 bull bar, and extend the tubing laterally on each side such that the leading edge of the fenders and turn signals would be protected. I haven't gotten that far yet, just have an idea in my head.

You need an Aussie kangaroo catcher that will accept an 8274.

Now you are talking but only thing I would be catching are the crazy drivers down here in San Antonio

That may be a bit more than I need. You probably know this already, but Dave will still build these Aussie brush guards upon request.

As I remember that is a guard that bolts to the top of the bumper and bumper is not included. I did talk to Dave when he lived in Phoenix years ago about this guard. It won't work with a PTO winch as made. At that time Dave was so busy just filling orders he didn't have the time it require to do one custom which I understood seeing how busy he was. I will say it has always been one of my favorite design grill guards.

You beat me to it. You still need a bumper for this brush guard. I like it though.

That's correct. It's just a brush guard that bolts to a bumper. I was only saying that it's no longer in production, but Dave will build them on request. If he would build something similar to the old school ARB catcher's mask bumper, I'd be all over it.

Maybe he'll see this and comment.

Daniel, for protection from SA drivers, this is what your 40 needs. PM me and I'll hook you up. :hillbilly:

That is what I need Lee! It would scare the tacos out of them! I do like that brush guard design from Dave and I like that it can be taken off. However that ARB catchers mask design just looks indestructible! Hmm

Grill Guard

We have a local shop fabbing up these grill guards.... :wrench:
