Then Phil yells out: "You need to try it in "FOUR WHEEL DRIVE".

Me: "Doh! I thought I was!"

The left hub was not locked. (That happened to me once before, so I double check now when I lock'em. So, I’m not sure what happened there. 31 years of looking at computer screens and I'm having trouble with fine print these days. I obviously can't trust my eyes and from now on, I'll have to put on my glasses to lock my hubs. Do they make Warn hubs in Braille?):o

look at Michael's hubs next time - he has stripes painted on there (some PO) that line up when open, and point different directions when locked - easy enough for the nearly blind among us :hillbilly:

in my experience, wheel lift in a 40 isn't really optional but part of the game :steer: :grinpimp:

as far as a rear tire lift on downhill, I can only cite what a wise man told me on my very first wheeling outing in the 40 (from 1.5 miles away over the CB no less :o more than 7 years ago): "Claudia, this may sound unintuitive, but when in doubt downhill, you have to give it gas" and it still feels  every time since then  - my last time barreling down was with a 4 foot passenger rear tire lift (as azTony told me later) I almost ran Michael over

BTW, what was it with the hood up at lunch

It was running a little hot earlier - the water temp hit 215. Too much lugging and standing still with all the rigs on this run. Nice cool break helped it out quite a bit.

Here are my pictures from the trip.
