Apex RCV and RPV Fast Deflators (2 Viewers)

I have to say I FF the thread.

I have the Apex deflators in the alphaequipt rims that have two valve holes.

The deflators are amazing for airing up and down. Particularly down is just so fast. Like 2 min including the walk time and unscrewing of the caps.

If they fit in your wheel and aren’t a tear off risk for exposure this is a great upgrade to further reduce friction for airing down.

I added a couple Colby valve to the drawer in case one gets torn off, it hasn’t happened, but they are exposed and I flexible.

Good to hear they're working for you. I wanted to make sure these deflators didn't create a liability and they were sufficiently inset, especially as they are rigid stems. Fortunately for this style OEM Tundra wheel, the std length RCVs will be inset ~1/2". Also liking the captive caps. Can't wait to use them.

Me too! Did a test bend and currently converting it to air over hydraulic. Then time to cut some tupperware.

A bit of silicone/rubber compatible lube will keep the cap spinning freely in the retainer

I've found air down nirvana. These Apex RPVs dump air fast. Not scientific but something like 1.5-2 PSI per second. Dumps so good.

They definitely air up faster too.

Caveat, and I found this out the hard way when I needed to air up - they may not be compatible with some locking chucks like Haltec H-5265 . Thank goodness buddies had inflators that worked.

I reached out and Apex recommends EZ Flate Rapid Locking Air Chucks or MORRFlate Locking Collar Air Chucks . Both advertise compatibility so I trust these will work, and also have higher flow features over standard chucks. Always a slippery slope of things. Ordered and I will find inflation nirvana.

At least my dual Viair 444C are doing the job and I don't feel like I need pump upgrades for 37s.

I had the same issue as you with I originally put on the RPVs I had a Morrflate quad system and they were not compatible with the Apex valves. Since then I believe the Apex valves have become popular enough that a lot of these air kit manufacturers have swapped to shorter chucks that fit on the Apex stems.

Louis (who is the owner of FasterFlate) and I had a discussion about options and for awhile a single tooth chuck was the only solution. Not ideal as it had to be in a specific orientation to create a seal, but once the above linked were available I swapped all the chucks out and they've been flawless since. I even stuck one on my ARB digital gauge to make it super easy

If you have the old style ones they won't work, they made a switch a couple years back to a different one that now works

Yeah, I was definitely surprised when I couldn't get a seal with my air chucks. Thought they were all the same.

Something to do with the old locking chucks needing more depth to engage the Schrader valve and it bottoms out on the RPVs before sealing.

Definitely check fitment of everythanng before heading out.

I found this out the hard way with the Currie quick deflate stem removal gizmo (identical to rebranded ARB variant) on my Tundra when i had the Rock Warrior wheels on it. The faux lock ring wouldnt let the slide mechanism engage to deflate.

I had to air down and up the old school way like a lowly peasant. UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

Oh... The joy of trying to yank your valve stem to air down and it shoots past your face and disappears into oblivion! The good ole days!

I use the INDEFLATE system now for air both down and up and absolutely freaking love it and how fast and easy it is

Was wondering if those would work. They look to be a great option and I almost bought. Thanks for the confirmation.

FWIW even the Apex high flow chuck bleeds air when you screw it on and off the schrader. It’s the screw on style and those are finicky anyway.

The Powertank chuck works very well.

The Apex RPVs are one of my favorite mods. Over 2.5 years of heavy use and absolutely love them.

I believe so. The desktop website explicitly states compatibility with the Apex valves.

Hah, all good. I only know cause I was staring at them trying to confirm compatiblity!

EZ Flate Rapid Locking Air Chucks are working better than I anticipated. One hand operation and it self locks when it bottoms out. The locking action is very positive and seems foolproof.

Well I figured it was only a matter of time, but I did think I’d make it more than 6 months. Snapped an RCV clean off on a trail today. Knowing that Schrader TPMS exists to work with Apex RPVs properly without the janky chain bracket mean I’ll be swapping back once more to the RPVs—glad I held on to them
