I have a buddy who's selling Toytec front suspension for cheap. Have another buddy who's willing to give me his v8 4runner rear springs. I'm thinking I can make a cheap and functional lift on the wife's GX for an upcoming trip. I have no idea what to expect from the 4runner springs though.

The 4Runner isn't as heavy, so I imagine they won't provide any lift without a spacer. SSO makes a nice air delete kit that lets you left up to an inch or so with spacers.

The 4 runner springs are on the "shorter" side. Generally people run FJ springs if they are staying OEM.

4runner springs will deliver no lift whatsoever and also have too soft of a spring rate in my opinion. I have to run 10mm OME spacers to just to keep it level with stock GX470 front springs on my stock GX. Go another route.

That's some good information there ^. Thank you, I will look into something else.

I used the SSO kit with no spacers, and FJC rear springs, and still ended up with about 1/2" lift over stock airbags. If I was doing it again I'd use the 4Runner rear springs and SSO kit, so you can shim it for lift if needed, and get the stock ride height and softer spring rate.

I don't have my 3rd row seats in, and find the FJC springs ride smoother when the cargo area is loaded. For my wife's daily driver the 4Runner springs would have been better, but the FJC springs are good as well.

SSO states that you get minimum 3/4" of lift with their kit- just something to keep in mind if you don't use the SSO kit.

I just checked their site and you're right, I didn't realize that. With that in mind, I still think the 4Runner springs and SSO kit w/ no spacers installed would be the best match for stock height with no 3rd row/extra weight in the back.

I bet the Metaltech kit with FJC rear springs would get you about the same results, with the higher spring rate if that's what you were after.

There’s what you’re looking at. Factory front stuff, metal tech conversion in the rear and FJC springs.

So the FJ springs aren't really giving the 2'' of lift that people claim. That or I'm not seeing that well.

It lifted my truck about 1.5” in the back. I still currently have the FJ springs installed but have a Radflo kit on the truck (minus the rear springs, obviously) and 33” Tires. With the coil overs set at 2.5” in the front, it’s perfectly level. I’m going to order some Dobinsons medium duty springs though so I can lift the front end a bit more.

Im running the MT conversion with Moog FJ springs in the rear. I can post pics if wanted. There definitely isnt a 2 inch lift, although I didnt measure to confirm. I would guess closer to an inch.

My reference was with no 3rd row seating just so things are clear.

50-60#s. Nothing to write home about.
