Anyone running spacers on OEM springs?

Notice I said OEM, not OME ;) (that's all the search came up with for me)

Anyhoo, my stock springs have been sagging for some time now and I've been putting off getting new ones until I can afford a proper lift

A set of AirLift bags did wonders for leveling the rear when loaded

Thing is, I recently installed a winch and it seems to have sucked the already saggy front end down about an inch :frown:

Unfortunately, they don't make a set of bags for the front end, so I was thinking about adding 2" spacers to the front springs :hhmm: (I have a feeling I just opened up a can of worms asking this)

Do they even make 2" spacers?

If so, has anyone used them on OEM springs?

I know I could probably buy a pair of heavy duty springs, but I really don't want to lose the ride quality :meh:

Slee has some one inchers: Slee - Toyota 80 Land Cruiser Suspension Spacers

This is front only. I got their 4 pack (front & rear) , but can't find them on the website now.

I've seen posts with metal spacers, even a write-up with pics.

Slee might be out of stock still. I tried to get some in July and they didn't know when they would get more in. I like the aluminum spacer idea better especially if it bolts in place in the mount and even better if it could attach to the spring somehow.

Check out metal tech. I believe they have some metal 1.5" spacers.

I believe that the 30mm spacers Man-a-fre sells should work. They are very high quality and look like they will hold up well. They are not, however, aluminum.

If you can figure out a cheap/easy way to manufacture aluminum spacers, there's probably a market for it. I was looking for ~1" lift all around, but there are very few options for the rear springs that I could find.

I have a set of the MAF spacers sitting in my garage. They were originally intended as a cheap lift on the OEM springs before I picked up a second hand OME lift from Bookilla (). Now I'll be putting them on the OME springs after I put enough armor/weight on that I start losing my lift.

DOH!!!

Ebag beat me to it

Pwnt. :hillbilly:

MAF has 30mm spacers (1.18") spacers for 80's

I wonder if they can be double stacked :hhmm:

I would not double stack them. I would not be comfortable with that, the material they are made of is very slick and they would not fit together well as they are not designed for that purpose.

My front end dropped 1.5" after installing an ARB bumper and M12000. I installed 1.5" metal spacers from Metal Tech because I wasn't really ready for a full suspension lift yet. I believe they sell 2" spacers too.

thought if you need to go higer than 2 spacers .. you must need a new coil set ..

Yes, I know this (they're sagging OEM springs), but I can't afford the complete lift I want at this time, so I'm looking at other options until I can ;)

I found 50mm (1.96+ inch) spacers at 4WD1.com, but they noted that they're for custom applications only and that I have to make sure the coils are secured properly :hhmm:

Yeah, I just saw the MT 2" spacers and they seem to be the ticket (although a bit spendy)

How did the 1.5" spacers hold up for you?

I've got about 10K miles on 'em and no probs so far. Just waiting on my stock tires to wear out so I can lift it up and slap 35's on.:D

But now that I understand what they mean by securing the coil, I'll be going with the MT designed spacers instead

What do they mean?

Considering OEM isn't secured, nor are most setups, I'm not sure why it'd be needed.

As long as you don't have so much travel that you're dropping the spring off the mount, of course.

According to Al @ MAF (I emailed them too), the rubber cone tapers, so a standard 2" spacer (or a pair of 1" spacers stacked) would mean the spring could shift from side to side :o

MT 2" spacers fit between the frame and the cone, so the spring stays on the seat of the cone just like factory
