anyone ever try the 2.5 lift kit from skyjacker?

Yeah, me too. In fact, I am currently enjoying a cup of Sumatra - black.

I am sure you have many other good things to offer to the folks on this thread, so 1) why waste yours and others time, 2) if you continue your rant you risk souring your current relationships, and 3) I think you took some of the comments here personally - everyone here has something to say and they, like you, reserve the right to have an opinion that should not construed as a shot against your opinions.

That being said, I am of the opinion that I bear the responsibility of ensuring that the vehicle I drive is as safe as possible for the sake of my family, myself, and the public, and I think that returning the caster to factory parameters satisfies my responsibility.

It is not an opinion that the truck can be driven w/o castor correction, it is a fact. There are many examples on this forum. There are none that I know of where accidents have occured. There are are also none that I know of that damage to a vehicle has been linked to not having castor correction. I have searched and found none. I'm fairly certain that if there had been it would of been brought up by now.

I almost had a bad one and I suspect that many people with lifted trucks w/o caster correction have had similar experiences or worse. The worst part about it was the way it seeming drove fine until that one bad spot. If you are going to drive without caster correction watch out for grooves in the road, uneven lanes, dropped shoulders, etc. - the truck just won't steer back to where it's supposed to go.
I had similar experiences the first week I lifted / put 33's on my truck... now I'm just used to it. I wouldn't exactly say CC is REQUIRED when you lift 2.5", but it's something that is very nice to have and probably should have.

Get off it man, you are making a fool of yourself, and there are things of much greater import than thresholds of acceptance to talk about.

Karl

you may think so. i think cary has been the one to make a fool of himself.

the title of the thread is requesting input about skyjacker springs. it's not asking for those with no experience to bash skyjackers, it's not asking for people to praise ome. it's not asking what's needed to safely lift a vehicle, although, if phrased correctly, it's often appreciated. saying a lift must have castor correction is false. saying it must have it to be safe is true. he's saying it does not have to have it. he's not denying that it's unsafe without it.

too bad skyjackers arent made anymore and if i find a used set at a reasonable price, i'd try them, because i have yet to see someone who has them bash them.

off topic,
cool...that post was almost 12hrs exactly from my last post in this thread.

You proved my point. The truck will run and drive w/o castor correction. CASTOR CORRECTION IS NOT MANDATORY. IT IS NOT NEEDED TO DRIVE THE TRUCK. PERIOD.

As I have stated previously it may be better, however, IT IS NOT NEEDED.

People who are hung up on castor really need to start their own thread.

I'm sorry, but this is a stupid statement and I hope no one else here reads this and thinks it is so.

Maybe with a real small lift castor isn't required but then you get into serious safety concerns

The nice thing about the skyjacker coil springs is they are cheaper than yours.

This statement is inflamatory and won't be allowed here. I see any more and I will start deleting them. Cheaper isn't always better.

You want to talk about the Skyjacker springs without input from the OMEs, that great. I support that and you should have that opportunity, but it is you who brought up a 2 year old thread and started the pissing match with cary. It is your opinion that it is mis-information.

The best approach would have been to start a new thread looking for input on the skyjacker springs. You started the pissing contest and you can't blame cary for responding to you.

I don't think there is a large number of skyjacker folks here and that would concern me. I also had a skyjacker set on my 40. I was happy with the springs, but the shocks were crap and broke after 2000 miles.

So, going forward in this thread

If you are an OME owner and have no real experiance with skyjacker springs, please don't post. We can all understand that some folks want real world experiance from some skyjacker owners.

They are still in production...

I was told Monday that the springs are no longer in production. Maybe the tech who told me that was wrong.
