anyone ever try the 2.5 lift kit from skyjacker?

first, why are you yelling.

second, if you only drive 35 and under or offroad only it may not be needed, but otherwise it could be unsafe to drive. My caster was on the high side to begin with, so if you have low caster before the lift it could be especially unsafe.
 
If you change caster that much that it is way out of factory specs and probably close to negative, I would state that it is necessary to address caster. Not doing so is foolish.

The nice thing about the skyjacker coil springs is they are cheaper than yours. Not only that, the truck owner can choose if they want plates, bushings, arms or brackets. :doh: That is crazy thought. The owner gets to choose what route he wants to go to correct castor if he decides it is necessary.
 
People who are hung up on castor really need to start their own thread.

wrong again. if someone comes in here searching for info on a skyjacker lift and reads that you say castor correction is not necessary with those springs and doesn't go read all of the separate castor threads, that bad info that could put them in an unsafe situation.
 
The truck will also drive with three lugnuts per wheel, that doesn't mean that you should do it.

It sounds as if we agree then. Castor correction is not required just as driving with 6 lug nuts is not required. I've been driving my tacoma with 5 lugs on each wheel for some time now.

I did not say anything on price.

Yes, you can do that with any system on the market currently, but telling people they do not need caster correction is not right. You might choose to drive your truck with a suspension that is out of spec, but to propagate it is not.

I guess the CC bushings with the OME kit that you can decide if you want them or not, or if you get them you can still decide if you want to press them in isn't a choice the owners has. Or, the plates that slee sells, or his arms are not a choice the owner either??? :confused:

I have not disagreed that castor correction would be best. It is not required to drive the truck. Many people drive w/o castor correction.

Skyjacker and OME have the option. Many people with OME springs have ran w/o castor correction. Skyjacker springs are just less expensive and were made in the USA.
 
kwikguy, i'm not trying to group up and bash you, but you are taking this whole molehill and making a huge mountain. Skyjacker has cheaper springs than slee, frankie's offroad, and OME. Fact. Skyjacker springs are better than the mentioned.....speculation. That's the bottom line.

Caster correction is part of bringing the steering geometry back to spec. If a kit doesn't have it as an option, one should look somewhere for the product to make it happen.

Most people would get into a wreck without brakes. How many have had wrecks due to not having castor correction?
 
by the way, i do like the fact that they are made in the US. If the springs are still available in the height i want, and i have heard positive reviews of them, the fact they are made in the US would help me to choose them.

I have never stated that no castor correction was better than castor correction. I have only stated that castor correction is not required and to prove that point one only needs to do a search and can find multiple examples of owners who have springs and no castor correction.

I'm yelling because people keep saying castor correction is necessary, required or needed. It is not. You just posted it is not necessary so we agree.

I almost had a bad one and I suspect that many people with lifted trucks w/o caster correction have had similar experiences or worse. The worst part about it was the way it seeming drove fine until that one bad spot. If you are going to drive without caster correction watch out for grooves in the road, uneven lanes, dropped shoulders, etc. - the truck just won't steer back to where it's supposed to go.
