Anybody have an Ironman lift?

I have a 2" kit that I am going to put on AFTER my armor gets installed, so as to weigh it down for possible castor correction.
 
Don't care who Eli's daddy is still loving my Ironman lift. It actually rides smoother than it did stock, pull the trigger you will not be disappointed.

Here you have the springs in action though the direction shock is an OME. Pic taken in the yearly rally contest in Venezuela "Fun Race 4x4" runned only by Land Cruiser.

I haven't heard any negatives about it. I have done some research and I found out in Venezuela is used a lot on cruisers nowadays. I am from there but never tried it out.
I sold my 97 LX450 in 2008, but I'm about to close a deal for an 97 80 to get back in business. Though, I was in between the main brands in USA I'm gonna give it a try on my project. I'm leaning to 4" lift and 36 tires; I mainly do expedition.

Are you currently running FOR?

I've got Iron man 6"springs and shocks sitting in the corner waiting on me to return from Moab in Aug. I'll try and remember to take before and after pics and post them up.
 
Very happy with the 2". So much that I want to go for the 4" soon with the 4bt conversion
 
Have my 4" since October last year, my truck is a daily driver and have no complaints.:popcorn:

more lift. I've been dragging my Ipor skid over too many rocks. I like the idea that IronMan has a dedicated shock for their 6"springs.

about that .. did you have OME L right now .. would be nice if you can compare both ( lenght ) and then your impresions at on and off road use . .

Right now I have the FOR suspension, before that it was Slee's 4" and the "L" shocks.

I won't be able to compare length but can post up measurements as the OME dimensions are out there somewhere.
 
I had the opportunity to meet Eli and his son at the Overland Expo in Arizona this year. I was impressed with the interest he took in taking the time to show and explain Ironman's suspension systems and parts to me and the guys I was down there with.

I also visited Slee's booth and I'm not sure if they were busy or not, but no one really seemed to be interested in conversing with us. I've had great service from Slee buying from them over the phone and the internet but you could hear crickets chirping when I mentioned that I was considering their 4" suspension kit at the Expo.

In any case I left with a better impression of Ironman, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of their kits, the components including the springs are well made. The only hesitation I have in ordering one is that they offer fewer parts than Slee for instance. I'm not sure that all the extra parts are necessary on a 4" kit though, i.e., adjustable upper control arms, D.C. shaft and emergency brake extension bracket etc.

Rick, since you've obviously tried most of the manufacturer's kits out there I'd be interested in hearing you're opinion as to whether or not it's worth worrying about getting all these parts in a kit or is it worth while ordering what you need and acquiring "extra" parts only if you need them?

Keeping in mind that although the Ironman kit is cheaper, it wouldn't be in the long run if you started buying the extra parts that you found out you needed after the fact.

If anyone else has an experience in this regard I'd be interested in hearing it too.

When you lift a truck to 4" you pretty much have to deal with all the same geometry issues regardless of who you buy it from.

When I install a lift for someone I try and get them to at least install caster plates, DC shaft, adjustable panhard bars, ext brake lines, sway bar drops and rear bumpstop drops.

I've had good luck with just these items alone but if you were to have an issue then addressing that would be next.
 
I have done everything Landtank has mentioned except the DC shaft and the bump stop extensions
I actually did my lift the hard way I guess but I wanted to see how the truck handled at different stages of the lift install and how the addition of other parts altered the performance and or caused other problems
By doing this I was able to track down issues easier and fix or adjust them
Not everyone will need a DC shaft, I am probably border line with a slight vibe at around 55 or so but that is it
Over time I have been able to isolate and eliminate vibes like new ujoints, castor plates etc.
I am now to a point were the rig is pretty dialed in for my tastes except for the slight vibes at 55
My front pinion angle is set up pretty close for a DC shaft now
I have a DC knuckle waiting to be put on a modified front driveshaft but it has not happened yet
But I do believe it will help my small vibe issue because over time I think that the current drive shaft angle will only wear out the new ujoints quiker and I will be back to dealing with more vibes again.
