@firestopper That is my “lifer” Wilton 800S. 8” jaws, 254 pounds and 42” long when extended to limit. Searched for years and found this one only 8 miles from my house!

One hellofa bullet vice that monster is!
The baby bullet is sweet as well.

yup, I prefer them au naturel, so to speak... maybe a bit of clear coat to prevent surface rust or some oil. Might look nice blued or phosphated too.

@e9999 I blued (cold) some of my smaller Prentiss vises. Definitely a learning curve there. Turned out cool looking.

It's odd to look at that Wilton 800 and know it's 250 lbs. It does not look that heavy. Pretty flowing, actually (if that is even an appropriate word for a cast iron vise).

It hides it well for sure. The swivel base alone is 43 pounds! I've seen a lot of 6" combination vises that look as heavy if not more (Reed 4C and Wilton C3) come to mind.

I’ve got a few, will try to put together some better pictures but I like Wilton and Reed…This is my C3, I have a baby bullet on a power arm that is pristine, came out of a jewelers shop so it had a pretty easy life…

Hell yeah !!!! @Str8Razor Welcome to the thread! Cool that I just mentioned a C3 in the post before yours. Let's see what you've got!

I love the shot of the big Wilton holding the 5 gallon bucket. It really sets off the true scale of the thing. And then @Str8Razor chimes in with another baby bullet. Awesome!

@Str8Razor Lets see that swivel jaw Reed.
It’s really clean, but still a user… just try to keep the grinder and the welder away from it…
This cadet is about to get a simple green bath and bring it back to like new, I’d like to personally thank USPS for breaking one of the ears off the swivel base, hopefully I can get it braised back on….

So, I was checking Craigslist the other day and saw a Dawn 5SP pop up. Well, a $20 vice a few miles away will get me everytime. The Dawn is a nice solid vice that is made in Australia, which means it's a vice and not a vise. It had some other base welded to it for some unknown reason. I ground the welds off and cleaned it up a little. Should make a good user for someone.

Here is the restoration of one:

One can never have too many vices.... (I know, I know...)

I think a great feature on a vise is the built-in pipe jaws. That really adds to the utility. Unfortunately I don't think any of mine have that. So I have to rig up some contraption each time. The tall jaws are also nice. And then the swiveling jaw but that's a bit more exotic and surely much costlier.

@e9999 If you are looking for a combination vise, look for a Reed 2C or a nice Columbian. Both are ductile iron and much stronger vises. This is particularly important on combos. The tall jaw towers on combination vises are mostly hollow to accommodate the pipe jaws. The added beef in Reeds and Columbians are very helpful here.

looks nice. I'd snap one up if I see one.

Anybody knows the production years for the Prentiss No. 93 Bulldog?
