I put five new Denso TPMS monitors (5500105/550-0105 Tire Pressure Monitoring System Sensor) in my other rims/tires before putting them on the rig ('16 land cruiser).

I noted the Ids for all 5 monitors. I used Techstream to register the new sensors, and that worked (I can reopen Techstream and the correct/new IDs are preserved). I've got 4 tires installed and the 5th in the cargo area (temporarily, while I get the sensors recognized). I've tried the procedure where you turn to the ignition on mode and hold the TPMS button under the drivers dash (the light is supposed to flash three times slowly and reset), and it doesn't work: the pressures don't show on the dash display, and I have the TPMS error/warning light on constantly. I did the reprogramming procedure far away from my garage, to avoid the computer trying to pick up the sensors on my factory rims.

Have you seen anything similar? Any trick or tips?

What Techstream cable and software version are you using?

Denso 550-0105 shows for MY 2015, and IIRC there is a VIN split in 2015 for TPMS sensors. Could it be that you have the wrong sensors?

Entirely possible. That would be a huge bummer. Time for me to do some online research...

That model is what the Denso lookup tool shows (and it shows the same for '16,'17 and '18).

But to your point, the thread you referenced said that RockAuto, Denso and others have the wrong p/n for 2016.

If so, this really sucks. What a pile of wasted labor and parts expense.

Will your techstream display the new sensor IDs? My understanding is if it isn’t capable of doing TPMS you won’t even be able to get in and see the IDs. That is definitely how mine acted until I got a better cable.

Also unless you are dealing with ”clone” sensors that copy your original IDs having the old ones in proximity shouldn’t matter.

Yes, I was able to program all 5 new ids into Techstream. I upgraded to a better cable (VXDiag) that works a 100% better than the $14 one I had previously.

It is a VxDaig unit and version 15.00.026

I don't think I have a Techstream issue, cable or programming issue. I triple checked the IDs that I entered, and verified that they "stuck" in the ECU.

I think I'm doing something wrong when I try to calibrate/reset on the car side. maybe I'm not getting the process, timing, or something right.

On second thought, I better also make sure it isn't something stupid like the back of the reset switch is unplugged...

It's always the annoying little stuff like this that is a hassle. The mechanical stuff is a breeze.

May want to try a initialize / reset?

None of this will work if the sensors aren’t compatible with the vehicle.

@bloc That may well be the issue, but Denso says they're the right ones.
@sdnative that is the procedure (from the owners manual) that I've been trying to do, and not having success.

Maybe I need to look at the tire pressure? The note in the manual and posted above references recommended pressures being important. I have mine set at 41 psi cold, which is the RCTIP for these larger tires. Maybe it is too high, making the system unhappy? Seems like my last LC TPMS worked fine calibrating at 46 psi though.

Also, not really important, but I swapped the factory spare with my larger spare (with new TPMS), so it is under the car where it is expected to be.

I performed initialization at 41 psi recently so that pressure shouldn't be a problem.

If so, I have the wrong one, these are PMV-C010.

Yes, Denso has the wrong cross reference and you have the wrong sensors. Another thread on here help me avoid the issue you are dealing with.

I emailed Denso about the error over a year ago.

A bit OT, but if you go to Discount Tire (they program for free), their software won't program the 2016+ if they enter it as a Land Cruiser in their handheld programmer(possibly because their machine is looking for the wrong sensor too). If you have them enter LX570 in their programmer it works perfect.

Edit: I cross referenced toyota part number 42607-48010 to PMV-C015.

This is what I ordered and they programmed fine on my 2016.

I have a gx470 but was in the process of ordering tpms sensors for new wheels/tires... Found this on Amazon, might be helpful. One review said the sensors come "asleep", and you need to wake them up. Sorry if this isn't relevant.

Thanks. I don't have anything to lose, so why not give it a try? Otherwise I'm swapping sensors, which seems like a hassle.

The Densos/Pacific wake up automatically under pressure. You have the wrong sensors.
