Looks great! I'm fond of 71 FJ-40's myself! I just swapped FJ60 knuckles/discs on my 1968 FJ-40 and think that it pushes the wheels out at least an inch, so I'm curious how yours looks with stock wheels and fenders. Keep up the good work!

Gary - thanks! Any chance you got to look at the passenger floor gas tank section? I could patch mine but it would be a ton easier to just weld in a good one.
Thanks! I just ran out and looked - the rear and front tires look like they are equally even with the fenders but I haven't set the toe in yet so it may be a little wider
I also have no idea what it looked like before the swap :/

all the little parts are pretty much ready for paint and all panels except the doors are getting close. made sure i put all the floating nuts/captured nuts back if they were rusted out. These were as close as i could find to stock.

some updates on my progress... i was busy for a while cleaning bolts with my tumbler and sandblasting in my tiny cabinet. Everything is starting to come back from the platers as well as the powdercoaters. I use Billmark Plating out of TX. Ship them your stuff with directions and they take it from there. Tony is the guy that works in sales and is awesome. I also sent a handful of things to be chrome plated at Paul's Chrome Plating company... super expensive but also very nice people.

for the seats... i needed new bushings for the pivots (the top bolts). So bought some of these of mcmastercarr. http://www.mcmaster.com/#6659k11/=uy5au7
The length and outer diameter were off so i had to slowly grind them down using my sanding wheel. they fit great and are oil impregnated so they should keep everything lubricated for a long time

body work is almost done - I never thought I would get here... final blocking should be done and painting started very soon. I need to get the truck driving by January so I need to get my butt in gear.

finally something that has been bothering me for a while. I wanted to remake my early fuel lines with the original crimped fittings. I had some other fittings in my parts stash so I took a comparison of them all. The original fittings to my truck are the short nuts and the short tubes. The shorter tubes had a larger ID so I used them. I don't think it would have mattered though.
the new nuts that I used are the tall ones shown on the right with the part #90402-13041 - i am fairly certain the tubes are no longer available
finally the ferrules and the tool that I used are shown here
ferrules are oxy/acy hose ferrules found almost anywhere - fastenal is one place you can find them - measure the OD of your new hose to determine which ones to buy. The fittings needs to be able to slide over the new hose. these should work too if you can find a 1/2'' outer diameter hose
This tool is used to crimp them in place... "vise grip ferrule crimping pliers"
or this tool depending on your budget. milton 1626 hose ferrule crimping tool

got these back from the chrome plater today (paul's chrome plating). Let's just say it was a bit more expensive than I thought it would be... Glad I did it though. I'm blown away by the quality of work.

I also reassembled the brake booster. I used white lithium grease. I couldn't find anywhere what I should coat the inside with but when I dissembled it, there was a dry white grease smeared on everything.
Looks great. Better take care of that check valve. I don't think you can get one for a '71 anymore.

and the race continues. I have blocked/wet sanded too many times to count. The first time I attempted to paint the truck I had the wrong hardener for the temperature, I was going too slow, and had the material knob turned out a little too far. LOTS of runs. More sanding and more sanding. I tried again and only two small runs! shouldn't be too hard to sand/cut/buff out
