Re-assemble the antenna body WITHOUT attempting to install the mast.

Re-install the body and then feed the mast into it.

How did I know you would answer this.

Do I feed the nylon through the metal tube and try and feed it to the motor before re-inserting the tube?

Completely re-install the antenna body, with the exception of the top nut.

Feed the cable down the tube with the cogs facing the drum and have an assistant push the down button. Then assist the cable as the motor pulls it in. After the mast is retracted, re-install the top nut.

Romer,
On your 97 you should know that the antenna will not fully retract with the radio on. It will come up approx 3" any time the radio is on. It will completely retract when using a CD or a tape and when the head unit is completely off.

The antenna on your '97 is also designed to return to it's last "manually set" position. You'll figure this out once you operate it. Just don't expect it to fully extend until you manually set the up position with the dash buttons.

Do you all typically do anything to lubricate/clean the mast to help keep it operating smoothly?

Thanks,

I think that lube is specifically prohibited. Just wipe it down with a clean cloth if you see gunk build up.
