Can't seem to find this.
I have a 2002 LX. 325k miles. Not sure on the last timing belt change.
I am looking at Amazon kits. Which one do I get. Too many choices. Aisin water pump with mitsuboshi or gates belt is the most common.
I don't want to just buy a bunch of extra parts just to throw on unless needed.
 
Replace everything, particularly if you don’t know which items were replaced previously. You don’t want to do this more than once because you didn’t replace a crank seal or idler pulley the first time around...

Yes, thats a good kit that shoboat posted, the TKT-021. I would also add crank seal, 2 cam seals, fan bracket, serpentine belt tensioner, serpentine belt idler pulley, and serpentine belt (If you don't know history of serpentine belt stuff). The serpentine belt and idler pulley can be replaced anytime quickly and easily, but not the tensioner though. Think about an alternator if you really want to be set, or just worry about that when the time comes.
 
Gotcha. Is the tensioner important? It's not in this kit.
Yes. You can buy the tensioner separate for pretty cheap. That kit I posted above from Evergreen includes everything else that you’ll need, including Aisin water pump and gasket, Mitsuboshi t-belt, cam and crank seals, idler pulleys, t-stat and o-ring, etc. It’s a much more complete kit than the TKT-021 kit.

Ok. Didn't realize it came with thermostat and o-ring. Did you replace fan bracket and serpentine belt pulleys and such at the same time. I didn't plan on doing that, but am now considering.

I did/am doing both. Those items have to come off anyways to do t-belt service, so might as well put on new. I also replaced radiator, all radiator/heater/coolant hoses, and heater Ts at the same time. Figure if I’m refreshing water pump and t-stat while doing t-belt, then might as well replace the other components of a 20 year-old cooling system.

Good points. I am trying to baseline this vehicle as well preparing for a long trip. So, the kit you suggest plus the tensioner plus the fan bracket plus serpentine belt and Serpentine belt tensioner and pulley, upper and lower radiator hoses and heater t's. Does that sound like a complete parts list?

Yep, sounds good to me. Only other things I would consider adding are the hoses that connect to the heater Ts. WitsEnd has a good kit that has those hoses, heater Ts, and new clamps.
 

This Kit comes with a lot, all Toyota parts except for belts (MITSUBOSHI) and idler pulleys (Koyo). I don’t know why use aftermarket belts when the genuine belts seem comparable in price, but those idler pulleys from T are $$$.

Again regarding the belts, the serpentine belt part number from T changes after 2004. I don’t know what the difference is, which makes me wonder about which the after market parts correspond to.

According to the mcgeorge Toyota website, the timing belt 90916-02586 is for up to 2004

and 13568-09070 is for later

 
One more thing ... the kit I listed is not listed as compatible with your 2002 lx, but is for my 2006.
That vendor’s kit for 2002 is more expensive because he includes Toyota idler pulleys instead of Koyo


... although it looks like he has some alternative kits with a few aftermarket parts for less

Mitsuboshi and Koyo are both OEM, not aftermarket.
 
Try partsouq.com. enter your vin and choose parts based on the diagram. parts coming from Dubai and is cheap even with fedex shipping and takes less than 5 days or less to arrive. I am buying timing belt components from them for a 4runner. Koyo tensioner is $ 22, mitsuboshi belt is $18 etc.
