Thanks guys! Glad you are liking the thread. And that's OK Scott, your truck will have to become the 4th of July display truck:grinpimp:

I'm wondering what size those rims are. I know they're 15 inch, but I don't know the width. Just trying to figure if they'll accomidate those 33" X 12.5" tires you were talking about. After looking at all those close-up pictures, it's obvious the rubber is getting thin.

Right now the tires you have on it are 32X11.50x15. I don't see a problem mouting the 33's. The rim configuration shouldn't be a problem. If you buy them through Discount I could have them mounted before you take her home.

Is there a rim "width" size minimum to be able to accept a 12.5" tire versus the 11.5 I have on it now? I don't know if the rim is wide enought for the 12.5" tire like the one you showed me.

Tcase Teardown

OK here is the t-case teardown in the event no one has had the opportunity to tear one down. Not much difference between a 60 and 62 other than a vacuum actuator....

2nd set

Second set and she is ready for clean up and paint. Then I will start on the 4L60E tranny teardown and rebuild.

Scott, I will get a measurement on the rims and get with discount to make sure the tires we are looking at will fit.

Jesus H! That looks great. I'm going to spend a lot of time just laying under the truck appreciating that beautiful TC!

Never mind the tire measurement. I can see you have it under control.

that has got to be the prettiest TC I have ever seen !!!!...
Woah !!!

Glad to see you like it. Although that case was fairly cleaned is still took me awhile to get it prep'd. The tranny will be next so I can get everything bolted up and ready to set! I can't wait. I am getting impatient to see it all together.

Just have a quick question for you. I have removed the factory 3.73's and put in 4.11's. How will this drive with the Vortec I want to put in? Will I be screwed on the freeway doing 50mph in the slow lane over reving the poor thing? Or will it not have an effect on that?

It will be OK. The 4:11's will be programmed into the ECU along with tire size which will allow the ECU to compensate for the gearing. Neat trick HUH?! I would have posted pics last night but my internet provider who I will leave unnamed,"BEEP,BEEP" has been out which is really pissing me off.:flipoff2: But I have started the reassembly of the transfer components and also started on the tranny.

Randy - it's looking great! It makes wish I never sold my FJ62. Now I want to pull my 3FE out of my FJ40...just so I can clean up the engine compartment. :D

Hell - Maybe I'll sell the FZJ80, and find a nice FJ62..and do a vortech!

I have a question about the frame prep - I've been reading on the FJ40 section about people using marine prep, then por 15, then paint.

What steps are you using on the frame?

Thanks anytime your ready let me know!

The steps of prep are:
1. Surface removal by grinding, sanding, wire brush, Etc.
2. Solvent clean. I use MEK or Acetone.
3. POR 15 treatment
4. Primer
5. Rubberized undercoating. I like the 3M brand.
6. Paint to choice flat or gloss.
7. Sit back and enjoy how it looks.

The marine treatment is also an option it is basically doing the same thing. Kill the rust and seal it.

Glad you are liking that new 40. I may have found a 60 BTW.:bounce:

Update

Well still no internet at the house,

But progress is moving the tranny is near completion and should be ready to bolt up to the engine on Friday. It has a new TCI Maximizer kit in it and the transfer has all new bearings and races installed. So once I can get it bolted up and get my internet up. I MIGHT BE ABLE TO POST THE PIC'S!

Ugh! I am falling behind. I got my motor out, seperated from the tranny/transfer, and off to Crested Butte to a buddy in need. I am fully commited now!

Wow, I thought my garage was a pretty good size until 800#s of motor and tranny were swinging around in there. My new cherry picker is the best $110 I have spent so far. I think I got about three more inches of lift when the motor lifted off the truck. I didn't think I was going to be able to get it out of the garage...

Can't wait to see more picks...

Shin- Glad to hear you are moving on the swap. Once the engine is out the rest goes pretty smooth. Just take your time and clean everything up and get the new motor prep'd. I will be posting pictures soon enough. My I-net is working but my computer is down. So a quick call to Dell by my wife fixed that. So I will have a bad Azz system by the 18th. So bear with me guys. When it comes in there will be a BUNCH of pic's coming up. I have the tranny rebuild done and I am bolting it up to the engine tonight, Then I will bolt up the transfer and she will be ready to go in. Just waiting on a fuel line to come in so I can plumb that before I set the motor. Oh and I am almost done with the SURPRISE. I also put a set of extended shackles and installed a good set of OME shocks. Those have also been color matched. I have stayed hard at it and she is coming together real nice. I know that Scott is dying to see some pic's!!:grinpimp:

When in doubt take air out of the tires. That is what I had to do when I did the lift on mine at my last house (very low garage door when open)
