I opted to replace the PS with a reman one that had the lowest core return so I could keep and rebuild at my leisure, OE rebuild kits are cheap.
Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters has front axle rebuild kits for just over $100 and you might was well do the inner and outer wheel bearings while it's apart.
My VC was toast so I yanked it and when I had time/more money I did the Lokka spool and locking hubs. you can yank it and still do the 7pin mod CDL switch the only diff is you'll be spinning your front driveline full time.
Good question, for me I had the hubs already and my VC was seized so it was the way to go. Basically during the snowy months I keep my hubs locked so I can just hit the CDL when I need some grip, from March to December I leave them unlocked unless I'm wheeling it.
I guess the advantage is that you're not turning the front DC when you're hubs are free, since I got a hell of a deal on some Bobby longfields I didn't want to prematurely wear them out.
Sweet, we could go up to Rausch Creek for a day, I rent a dairy barn on a farm with 220 acres too and the guy lets me run thru it as long as I don't make the guy farming the land mad. Thanks for the heads up warezdog. I might have to look you up when I make it back to Md so you can show me a few trails in your neck of the woods. I am, after all, a born and raised Baltimoron.
I get a good hookup on factory parts, and thise "belt mouldings" are about $50 each with a discount, and the large land cruiser badge was $90. I'm picky, so I bought them. My alternative was to peel all the black off them and go with the stainless look, but it didn't want to come off easily.
What did you have do yo plug the flare holes?
Very nice. After welding the flare holes on my first 80, I don't want to do it again. Unfortunately, I've already removed the flares from 80 #2 so I'm looking for options... What did you have do yo plug the flare holes?
