Alright with all permanent mods, i am thinking and rethinking what i would like to get done and what would look best. I like most of my mods subtle to retain that stockish appearance.

So.. I am getting my land cruisers rockers line x'd here soon. They will be color matched, I am doing this, mainly to fill the snake blinder holes and to hide the thousands of rock chips down there. I am pretty set on this and i think its going to look good. I am going to get it done from this body line down (front and rear):

Now on to my dilemma…

So another frequently chipped place is the flat portion, body colored paint, inside the wheel wells (90 degrees off the rest of the body). I asked if they could linex those, but they said there would have to be at least a half inch lip on to the body. So if i have to have a lip i was thinking of making it go to a body line for the best looks.

So these are the options i have or i have been thinking about (if you think of another let me know!):
Note: Sorry the lines in the pics suck, don't have a photo editor. All options will connect to the linexd rockers.

1. dont do it, leave the paint, and just keep touching up the inner wheel wells yearly.

2. Go to the first body line (where it goes from flat to curved) in the front and do the same in the back. The only issue with this is- that area on the front is half an inch smaller than that flat area on the rear. Not sure if it would look weird. This is the line I'm referring to:

I do believe I have seen someone kb here with a white 60 do this, the color match came out so good it was barely noticeable, but who knows that they can get the same results with tan. My opinion would be to keep it small on both front and rear other wise if you go large you might just want to do the door bottoms also.

I vote #4. Color-matched, minimalist lines.

If the color match is pretty close, it probably won't be all that noticeable any way you decide, except when the topography of the LineX starts to collect dirt. I don't think dirt lasts long on your rig anyway! That is one clean rig!

AnkurGT just did this to his white 60. Perhaps he can give you some ideas?

The LineX extra they showed me is smoother and doesnt really collect dirt. They had a whole truck painted black in it and it was pretty clean with just a hose wash.

I have thought about this alot.....(as it pertains to my rig)
Here is what I would do...It's a combo of your #2 and #3 - Your #3 for the front wheel well & Your #2 for the rear....

(Not my rig anymore, just used for example)

And I just covered the whole outside of the truck:D

Trapper I still love Ingrid!!! Cant help it!!!!

I have to agree with Trapper and the others.. go for the minimalist approach unless you plan do to some serious wheeling with it...
J's truck looks great but I am not all the keen on the LineX quite that far up.

Greg- PO rhino lined my full exterior. Pretty sweet. I am in Truckee or can show you in Reno. Still gotta make a Battle Born Chapter meeting. I owe you some photos for my interior for sale on CL

I think J makes a really good point in his comment when he mentioned protection. Are you most concerned about the aesthetic or protection? If it is the former, then go the minimalist approach knowing you might sacrifice protection and have to deal with rock chips that need to be touched up. If it is the latter, then put on what is required to protect your ultra-clean rig from any unsightly rock chips.

I wish I could find the pics of the all white FJ that had the line-x color matched. You couldn't see it from a moderate distance if you covered the whole rig. Besides, J's rig looks all kinds of awesome, I don't see how you can make a bad choice. Good luck!

I'm a big fan of using colored tape to try out paint schemes- a coupla bucks and a few hours, and you'll have
a pretty good idea of what you want.

Or don't want!

If you want to go truly nuts, go to a vinyl shop and get adhesive vinyl in the exact color you're thinking
about.

i have line-x on the bottom edge of my cruiser from the PO. it extends about 4 inches starting at the very bottom edge of the body up. and is the same color as the truck and really protects the rig from the rocks down below the doors. it is only located on the bottom and does not extend up the wheel wells. pictures 1 and 2 are spot on to what it looks like except not as high up.

Five years ago , I did the lower contours of my fj62 in black herculiner. It has held up really well. The only downside was the herculiner fade from the sun,, but an anual coat of the u/v stuff made it nice again. Last summer I got tired of my faded grey and got a two gallon kit of monstaliner and did the entire truck in black. I am really happy with the result. If I had a great, clean rust-free, stock truck, Id go minimal as you can't beat stock. Mine however is my work truck so the blackout was a big improvement. It's also as quiet inside as a church. Also no u/v worries. Your truck is so nice, I'd leave it alone and take care of it as needed.

I vote #4 too. Minimalist lines and body color matched

As Patrick stated I just did this. I have it from the rocker accent line all the way down to the pinch weld. This includes the front fender shoulder line and the front lower valance. Color match is very good and you can only tell it is Line-Xed from up close. White sealer accomplished the color match. Only challenge is that white Line-X shows grime if you don't wash your truck for a while. I'll take a picture when I leave the house this morning.
