The truck just drove by about 10 minutes ago with an empty trailer. I feel I should go snoop around and see if I can find where he went, it's not like there are that many houses back there.

Washed some road grime away today. Getting ready to do some epic backcountry stuff soon, figured I'll be driving the 40 around for a few days before I go, might as well clean it up a little.


Not that I don't drive it everyday anyway.

Same Story here. Oddly it seems to work, old trucks in the field with hoods open and no rodent damage.

I put out a fire at the grocery store on my mom's '92 Buick. After messing with a mechanic-installed aftermarket battery positive cable terminal corroded with mouse pee, I had charging issues, got a new battery. Immediately after that, I had starter issues. The cable was rubbing on the chassis, noticed it when I replaced the oil-soaked starter, so I adjusted the position of the cable on the starter lug, making it rub on the AC compressor without knowledge of it. Driving down the road, I thought, "what is that smell, must be the mouse-cached hackberry seeds on the exhaust that I just finished vacuuming from the engine bay, but the ABS light keeps blinking" Made it to the filling station, made it to the grocery store. Then a flame in the parking lot itself made the problem obvious, without shadows from the flashlight. Dude at grocery store was trained, and he gave me a fire extinguisher, when I ran in for a gallon of water. In a state of panic, I decided to get close to a shorting lead-acid battery and push the possibly hot cable away from the AC compressor - glad that it worked in my favor. Fire department certified the vehicle safe to move, LeSabre got repaired by the same mechanic, and a single nylon zip tie that they installed on the new red cable is keeping the classic ride 'road-worthy.' Saw a medium-sized snake on the road in front of the hackberry the other day, someone ran over it.
