Is that the AZ equivalent to what we call a 907A title? In other words, a salvage/branded title?

Looks like it. Basically the law states for 3 years the rightful owner can come forward and you are responsible to pay any claim or money lost.

I really wouldn't let the bonded title sway ya. It looks mostly complete with no major cancer. Cool truck.

I would concur with mmcinnis. At least in TX a bonded title is not the same as a salvage title. Very common and I actually have 3-4 cruisers I’ve had bonded. As Gabe mentioned, it means an original titled owner can challenge the bond in the courts and if awarded could get the vehicle. As a current owner you’re protected for the value of the bond during the 3 years (an insurance policy). In TX it can no longer be challenged once it matures (after 3 years) and your title is free and clear.

I guess my concern would be if I purchased it in Indiana can I title it here since the seller just received a bonded title for 3 years. Indiana would normally issue me a new title and I have never seen a bonded title here. My guess is that the time would need to expire first before I could switch the title over to my name. I would hate to risk the owner coming back and me being out the money and the vehicle. Risking that on a $1,000.00 car is one thing. On a $10,000.00 car it’s a bit different situation. Plus let’s say I would start to restore it and 2 years later rightful owner shows up with the title. Would I be out all of the money I spent fixing it up? No experience with this before and I have owned a lot of Cruisers over the years.

Agreed Gabe. The state transfer is something that would have to be verified. Every bonded title I do i leave the car alone for the next 3 years. Fortunately (and maybe the same for you) I have enough projects in the pipeline this works for me. Definitely a lot to consider

I do have enough to keep me busy. I think I am going to pass on this one. It makes me nervous. Plus, I had a good friend tell me about a FJ45LV recently that might be for sale. That is one of the only Cruiser's I have never owned that is still on my bucket list. Thanks for the information.

That’s what I am thinking. I did buy this 1961 FJ40 project some of you might have seen on Facebook a while back. Amazing rust free body.

I remembered seeing a picture of this eBay fj25 before. I couldn’t recall where so I started searching the FJ25 forum. Look what I found!

ahhh yes I remember seeing that in the "you've been spotted" section in the AZ cruiser club. Seems like a pretty complete FHT, I reached out to the seller earlier in the week but no response. He's never had an ebay sale either, makes you wonder...

Agreed. I did the same and asked for 2 more photos. No response.

I always drool over the space you have Gabe, as much as the trucks in the space! That 40 looks beautiful! Cant wait to see what you have planned for it.

When I messaged the guy on eBay earlier in the week I left my number for him to text pictures to, and randomly new years eve at about 10pm I got a couple texts with some photos from him (his New Years must have been as uneventful as mine). I spoke to him new years morning and made him an offer on the truck and will be picking it up this week! Have to say I was not in the market for another truck but being somewhat local (a few hours away) and what appears to be a very intact FHT I thought it may be my only chance at one. Plus, the 28 is a museum truck and I've been kind of feeling bummed that after all the work and research on the 20 series I won't probably feel like I can take it out and enjoy it, whereas this FHT is something i can keep in my garage and drive. I'll need to get another bumper made, and a rear bifold (are those the same as the 40?), some switches and wiper motors but other than that it appears its pretty much all there. Also needs a good prison-inspired name after its history over here at Safford prison. The Warden?

The bonded title does make me nervous as i have no experience with one but we are drawing up some other notarized docs to protect me too. Hoping for the best. I’ll be storing this at a friends for a little while until I’ve got time to start working on it (likely not until the pandemic is over). I’m not sure if I’ll restore it, or just get it running and enjoy it as-is - really that depends on if Lara bleeds me completely dry or not. Seems like it would be wise of me to not put much $ into it until those 3 years are up and I can get a clean title too. Supposedly it was parked a few decades ago due to some clutch issue, which doesn't sound too complicated so we will see what it takes to get it back on the road. I'll post more pictures and start a thread once I get it home...

I built a 40X60 shop with loft and it is still too small. Especially when I put the pontoon and Boston Whaler in it over the winter. If you build one, go big!

am not sure what my plans are for the 1961. My oldest daughter is 11 and she is my side kick. She loves working out in the barn with me. I realize I have about 2 more years of that if I am lucky, so I thought about building it as a father daughter project that she can keep. My only issue with that idea is that since its a fst model, I do not feel that it is the safest vehicle to put a 16 year old in. So I have no idea what I will end up doing with it. I just know clean Land Cruiser's are getting very hard to find and are a good investment. I try to buy them whenever I can.

My oldest is only 5 but she loves helping daddy in the garage too, so this is inspirational to hear - I hope she never grows out of it. Enjoy the project part of it together I guess and worry about the driving piece later, I'm terrified at the thought of having a 16 year old driving ANYTHING though so I can understand concern about them driving a FST for sure!

I'm all out of space now, going to expand our garage in 2021 but we live in the middle of the city so there's only so much we can do - this will probably be the last cruiser I buy unless I sell another which is probably pretty unlikely. Famous last words :)

I looked at moving out there a few years back. Glendale area. The homes we looked at off of Happy Valley and 66th or 67th. That area had good sized homes with large lots with shops.

That bad thing about more space, is you can collect more junk!! I moved 8 years ago out to a ranch house out near the cali coast with some property. It had nothing on the lower part of the property, just nice trees, creek side, beautiful. NOW I have 2 40ft dry vans ( parts storage) 2 45ft shipping containers ( vehicle storage) another 20ft container, a 25 ft box van( just the box., carports, 25x25 barn. A junk yard! Oh and over 20 vehicles of all shapes and sizes. I do remember a buddy saying, once you have some acreage, watch out, it will fill up quick!!’ I have been offered cars for free, and I’m like Sure I’ll take it!!!( because I have the space!!!🤯

A cautionary tale!! I could completely see that happening to me if I had the space.
