Thought I would seek the wisdom of the experts here on Mud (Trunk ... if this needs to be added to another thread, forgive me .... I could not find a suitable one to add it to .... nomex suit on  )

I just got the beast back from the stealership after getting an alignment done. The rig in question is in my sig ...

2006 model, Slee heavy lift, Slee diff drop, Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx 275/70R18.

Lift specs put me at super stinkbug stance ... 20.5" front / 23" rear CL of axle to fender. I need to add some "stuff" to the rear or rethink spring choice ..:D

The specs on the alignment are

Obviously toe was adjusted, but it is not so obvious on the other specs. However, most of the bolts have been loosened on the adjusting points at the control arm mounts. The rig is so clean, I cannot tell if the cams have been moved.

My question is this ... given my setup, does the caster look reasonable? The tech noted that the caster adjustments are maxed out. Cross Camber, Cross Caster, Cross SAI (Steering Axis Inclination) are all in spec (despite the red coding). In the few miles from the shop to my office all felt good, but I would have hoped for a bit more caster ....

TIA for your comments ...

With the front height at 20.5" and OEM front UCA you are typically lucky to get back to or just very close to minimum caster spec...

Thanks for the comments

Thank you sir ... that makes me feel a bit better about where I am - especially given your experience with this platform. I'll put some miles on her and see how she handles ... :steer:

If you have the Slee heavy lift, why are you at 23" in the rear? 23"usually indicates OME 863s instead of the Slee-made heavy springs.

The rear springs are not OME springs, but are the Slee SOF2RH springs. Ben suggested them based upon my ultimate plans for the rig. I am guessing the big stink is due to the fact that the 3rd row came out as soon as I got the rig home and all I have in the rear now is the Slee rear bumper with no swing outs ... so I am a little light in the rear for those springs.

I am pleasantly surprised with how the rig rides and handles though. The ride is a bit firmer (I lost the wollowy cruise ship ride) and the handling is much crisper.

If I cannot get used to the major stink, I may try some different springs since the rears are pretty easy to change.

Hmmm ... where were you with the Slee springs? I have not put many miles on it since installation. They may be some loss in lift as they "break in". I have experienced that with OME coils on J--ps. I lost about a half inch of lift out of OME heavies on a JK after a month or so, then consistent height after that.

I don't remember specifically. I do remember thinking that the entire truck looked way too low. I only ran them for about a month. I do remember noticing a big difference between the Slees and the 863s so it must have been significant. YetiinGA has my old Slees, maybe I could get him to post up some measurements.

Stock torsion bars, new 865's, new Bilstein HD's all around. 21" front, 22.25" rear. Here's where I netted out after a visit to Firestone once everything was installed. I requested the -.5 degrees camber, which actually resulted in a pretty big swing as it was running some positive camber.

I just had my 100 aligned today and was disappointed by the dealership. It drove straight but was a little twichy at speed after I cranked up the torsion bars. After the alignment the steering wheel shimmys pretty bad. I cant believe a Toyota tech would test drive it and be satisfied with his work like this. Can anyone explain why the previous poster asked for the -5 degrees camber? My technician apparently didn't change the caster at all. It is the same as it was and it's out of spec. Any suggestions other than the obvious lower it back down? Right now I'm setting at 21" in the front and 22" in rear. Love the look but not happy with steering. Thanks for your help in advance. I always get great info from this site.
