Aisin Hubs and 4340 inner axles...

Just read the article in the Sept/Oct Toyota Trails on Woody's 40HD axle. I'd love to get rid of my Warn Hubs on my 78 FJ 40 and switch to Aisin. I'm running CV Unlimited "Newfield" outers and wonder what I'd need to do to swap to Aisin Hubs? Where might I find them (vehicles? years?) and do I have to replace my Newfields (at $200 each I hope not) with a different Birf? Do the Poly Performance inner axles fit into this mix easily?

"They'll swap right on." Really?.... any Aisin hubs and the Poly Performance 4340 axles with my 78 Newfields will all swap right in, no mods or new parts needed. Forgive my astonishment, but rarely have I found a swap that's that easy. What year(s)/vehicles could I find the Aisin hubs on?

almost true. The warn hubs elimninate the cone washers I think, so you'll need the cone washers, lock washers, and nuts from said mini-truck also.

Keep an eye out on ebay they show up there regularly.

I would not trust those Newfields. I have never seen one hold up to serious abuse.

THe best Newfiled is one that is sent to Longfield to get treated.
