The last thing I plan to do is the exterior. I think it looks kinda cool, plus it took a long time to get that way. I got enough of the engine stuff together, so tonite I plan to fire it up.
Once I sell my 55, it will be full speed ahead with this LV. I want to have it drivable by late fall.:steer:

Woo hoo......it runs. Got a temporary fuel tank rigged up, ran a few wires, added a battery and it purrs like a kitten. Fuel pump is working and carb holds idle and starts right up. Now I just have to finish everything and I can drive it....lol:grinpimp:

Did some clean up on the dash, firewall, interior area. Here's some before and afters

Subscribed, after seeing your 55 Im excited to see what you have in store for this one.

I think you can get more for the 55

I think so too. I reevaluated my price. It is a good piggie. Needs to go to a good home.

Got the steering column, brake and clutch pedals, and emergency brake lever bolted back in. Also made a battery hold down.

Looks awesome! Love the way that clean engine bay contrasts with the patina of the exterior

ditto. Do yourself a favor and cap that fuel return line at the carb. Leave the vacuum port on the dizzy disconnected; it's a retard dizzy.

Subscribed.:)

Didn't you have a brownish 55 too when I ran into you by the agua fria? Or is this the same one and im thinking of someone else's?

Tony

This is the same one. It was originally blue and white, then the PO painted it the horrible gold and white. I repainted it back to the og colors, well close enough.

After scratching my head I bit, I figured out how the window and door levers come off. Answer was hiding under the pretty neat little trim rings. Then pulled off the door panels.
Found out why my windows wouldn't roll up or down. The bottom piece that fits to the glass fell off......ever one. Also found whats left to one of the door stops.
Suprisingly the inside of the doors don't look too bad.

Got the trans tunnel figured out. I forgot to take a before picture. The part had big holes in it and was covered with nasty sound deadening stuff. I made an aluminum plate to cover it up. Went Rosie the riveter style on it. Then stealth with a coating of truck beard liner.

Trans cover installed. Cleaned some more of the interior sheet metal. Welded all the holes closed that aren't factory. Some sanding and paint. Finally, the interior does not smell like crap

Doing that old girl right! Looks great!

The brakes are the biggest thing to do at this point. Tracking down the parts here in a rockcrawling mecca like Phoenix is hard to do. All the disc conversion parts have been consumed by Toy crawler guys. I had piles of this stuff 10 years ago when I wheeled my 85 Runner. Got rid of all that stuff when I went Dana 60's though.

Got a few leads going though

Made some new rear panels with freebie material. Lite gray is thick plastic and the dark gray is the factory tin. Won the correct glove box door off ebay. Painted the door, ash tray, and gauge cluster with a color kinda close to oem.:)
