In preparation for this coming weekends Rocky Point Mexico trip, I changed the oil, filter and air filter. Now the drain plug is leaking. It's always something it seems. If there's not some new pix posted early next week, send the rescue party.

According the odometer in the wagon, it was a 446 mile round trip. This included some cruising around and a 26 mile off road poker run. The Cruiser preformed flawlessly. I didn't win the poker run, but got a round of cheers for being the oldest truck to drive down from Phoenix and complete the run, with no ac of course. Lots of thumbs up south of the border though

Blew out the rear bump stops in Mexico. Found some old stock ones (came off a 64, first Cruiser I ever bought) and modified to fit.

Very inventive and creative.

Ya know, similar to that done on the RH side of the front axle, Toyota could've welded a perch to the rear axle to accommodate the U-bolts along with a standard bump stop--for the 45 wagons, pickups, and the FJ43s.

But what do I know about engineering.

Getting all my parts together to restore the factory horn. The horn units are the OG's from my wagon that just needed to have the covers glued back together. Then I cleaned up the oem relay which I recently scored.

Nice job Jack. Came for the brake pics and ended up reading it all again

Took the wagon out this morning to go revisit a mine we have yet to explore. Last time the water was a few inches taller then my boots, making it a no go. This time we got a surprise, as some one reopened this claim. We knew as soon as we turned on the road that something was different. They had done some major road reconstruction, filling wash outs and moving alot of earth. Once up by the mines, there was numerous no trespassing signs around the mine we wanted to explore. It was kind of nice the road had been fixed, but a bummer that the one tunnel we wanted in was the claim. In the pictures you can barely see an old truck that has been uncovered when they used the surrounding dirt for road repair.
We choose to leave this area and check out another off shoot road towards home. In one of these pictures you can see an old cabin that I have posted pictures of earlier in this thread.
Was still a great day and made it home before it got too hot.

It's the Nostalgic Air set up. So far, so good. More pics to come soon

AC install has taken a back seat to getting a few other items wrapped up. I installed an oem choke cable and knob, I joined the darth vader light club with the oem switch that I am missing the knob to, and most surprisingly I got the wipers to function. The horn is almost working, all I need is a new contact and spring.
Everything pretty much needs to be heavily modified for the AC kit to fit my wagon. I think it will be pretty slick when done though. But that is for another day.

Wagon is already to go. Heading out tomorrow afternoon on probably the longest trip yet. The destination is cool temps, mountains, creeks, lakes, and forest. Which can all be found in the White Mountains in northeastern AZ.

It was the longest trip yet. Odometer says 579 mile round trip. We camped at Big Lake the first night, then went cruising thru the area including the Wallow Fire burn zone, camped at a random forest spot on the next night, then explored some more and headed home on day 3. Temperatures were great with highs in the low 80's and lows in the low 50's. This area is about 9000 feet in elevation with mountains that peak in the 11000 foot range. Good times.
