Guys, I'm thinking about picking up a pig and doing some basic work on her. I'm not really mechanically inclinded - I couldn't do a SBC swap, but I think I could get a 5 speed in properly. Never done body work - probably would write a check for this...

Anyone seen this truck b/4 or have any comments on what else to watch out for?

Here's a more detailed response from the seller:
Four speed Trans.
Has AC.
No power steering.
Not modified. Bought from older gentleman (60's)
All original.
Owned 3 mo.

So I'm thining it would need interior work (I think I can handle) pull the engine and have someone else freshen, body work and paint and suspension w/ original wheels and tires. Not sure if I could handle a 2" lift or SOA...

Thanks for the advice guys
Brett

that 55 looks like it is a decent deal... as long as what the owner states is all true...

bolt-on lifts are within most shade-tree mechanics abilities by design so that is not a big deal, in fact it is a great way to learn.

interior stuff is not too difficult either and there are many shops that do custom work on cruisers (like engines, body, armor, etc.) that are reasonable and with good quality...

I agree with Pablo, not worth 4K$ but 2-3 might not be too outrageous..

Not sure why he's selling so quick - not that the answer I might get is the real one. I probably won't even ask...

I've got around 10K to spend in the next 6 months. I like the pigs b/c they're unusual and no one else has one around here - I'd like it to be a very mild truck - 2F, HF55, 2" lift or so, light window tint and that would be about it, including body work and paint.

I would agree, about $3k is all that's worth, plus its a long way from North Dakota. I think for $10k maybe I find someone who's done all the work for me.

Here's an idea of what I like (color too)

That one on ebay is ???? That is not the stock color for a pig! Ask for more pics of the: roof seems, wheel wells, floorboards, rockers, dash, seats, head liner, etc. I would never buy a 55 off ebay with only 4 pics. Get more pics. I would say that pig is worth ~$3.5k max, if the rust has been properly repaired.
